How to make a calendar with your own hands scrapbooking. Desk calendar using scrapbooking technique

DIY desk calendar

I bring to your attention a table calendar - a house on cords.

My calendar consists of a base (calendar backing), to which calendar leaves with grids (by month) are attached.

1. I make the backing.

I design the front sides of the backing. I make two almost identical things at once. They differ only in lace and horizontal mirroring. They will be glued to the base.

For this I needed:

A piece of cardboard I cut out a strip 2 cm wide and 18 cm long. I glue the motif onto the cardboard and cut it out with a 2 mm allowance along the contour. I also make two of these elements.

One block - I attach the motif with a backing from the right edge, the second one I punch for beauty from the left. I attach the element on the left to the second part (remember - mirror image).

I glue everything in place. I add a few brown half beads.

On the right I leave space for calendar leaves. Don’t forget that the second backing has a mirror image and the place for the leaves will be on the left).

2. I make calendar sheets.

For this I will additionally need collections of papers

I cut the white cardboard in half (you get 6 halves). I cover them with paper on both sides. The collections are similar in color, easy to combine and you can make all 12 different options.

In the middle I glue calendar grids by month. On top of each leaf I punch 2 blocks for cords. Please note - all the holes must be at the same distance from the edge and opposite each other, so that when we hang them on the cords, they do not move around.

On the substrates - annual grids for 2013 and 2014.

3. I'm putting together a calendar.

From gray I cut out two rectangles measuring 14x20 cm each and a rectangle 8x20 cm (the bottom of the “house”). From white cardboard - two strips measuring 4x20 cm each (then I will use them to seal the joints of the structure. If you want your calendar to fold, crease in the center of the bottom.

I glue the remaining pieces of paper onto all three rectangles - this will be the inside of the calendar.

I bend the white stripes in half.

Gluing the structure

We glue our backings to the front sides. I punch three eyelets along the top (I make sure to measure them using calendar sheets) on both sides and opposite each other.

Good afternoon, our dear readers!)

Today I am with you, Alena Podlesnaya, and I will tell you how to make a desk calendar. You can make this calendar for yourself or give it as a gift for the New Year, it will be a nice and necessary gift!)

The calendar measures 16*10.5 cm on the cover, the thickness at the bottom is 9.5 cm, fat!)

So, to make such a calendar we will need:

To design internal sheets:

1. scrap paper 15*15 - 11 sheets;

2. Cardstock for the base, I use pearlescent designer cardboard with a density of about 280 g/m2 - 2 sheets 30*30 cm

3. Watercolor paper or something similar for printing the calendar grid and the back of the calendar - 4 A4 sheets. The reverse side can be made as desired.

I made the calendar grid and the back side especially for this MK, so I’ll be happy to share them with you!);

4. Printed pictures or you can make them with your own photos, it will be much more interesting, and being a gift, such a calendar will also give warmth and family comfort.)

5. Various decorations and techniques.

I used:

texture paste, masks, a little spray, liquid pearls, gauze, maskite colored mesh, some other mesh, chipboard, beads, glossy accent, various laces, scraps of paper and book pages, raffia, sisal fiber, flowers, skeletonized leaves, paper tape, microbeads, plastic butterfly, white acrylic... In general, everything here is limited only by your imagination!)

For the cover:

6. Binding cardboard - 2 pieces 10.5*16 cm

7. Sintepon

8. Fabric, I took coarse linen.

9. Ribbon or lace for ties.

10. Spring or rings for fastening (if there are rings, it would be better to use eyelets, but not essential)

And of course we will need glue and a sewing machine if you plan to use stitching.

We will cut the base of the pages from cardstock - 12 pieces 9*15 cm,

scrap paper - 12 pieces, size 7.5*14.5 cm

reverse side - 12 pcs I got a size of 7.5*14 cm, my samples need to be slightly adjusted to size.

Let `s start!)

We take the first page, outline the location of our picture and calendar

Applying background decorations

And glue it to the base

By the way, I’ll say right away that I made the pages voluminous, although my volume was no more than the size of beer cardboard, but still the calendar turned out to be chubby. You can make a completely flat decor to make the calendar smaller.

At this stage, you can also glue the back part, which was previously stitched on a typewriter.

We add a calendar and a picture to our face and decorate it further as we want!) I added beads, which I placed on the glossy accent. I went over the edges of the pictures and scrap paper with white acrylic. And this is what I got:

We decorate our next 11 pages in the same way.

Let's move on to the cover. You can glue the padding polyester to the cardboard. I always sew it on, then it definitely won’t “run away” under the fabric. If you are making a calendar on a spring, pay attention to the edge where our holes for the spring will be. At this point, there is no need to glue the padding polyester; we retreat 1.3-1.5 cm from the edge.

And when covering the cardboard with fabric, do not forget to thoroughly coat these edges with glue so that the fabric does not subsequently move away from the cardboard

I can see the glue a little, but it won’t be visible, I’ll cover these places with acrylic.

Now let's move on to decorating the cover. Scraps of paper, texture paste, chipboard frame and plastic numbers. I sprayed a little spray and went over it with white acrylic.

I made the holes with a binder early, at this stage there is no need to make them!

Now we glue our ribbons. Not only will they keep the calendar folded, but they can also be tied at the bottom and our cover can be used as a footstool, and the ribbons will prevent it from coming apart!)

On the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, everyone begins to think about the issue of purchasing gifts. We want to offer you our own version of a gift made with your own hands. We present a master class that tells you how to make a scrapbooking calendar that you can hang on your wall.

So, for our work we may need thick cardboard, background scrap paper, velvet ribbon or cord, office clips of different colors, decor, as well as printouts for twelve months.

On the base cardboard we draw the outlines of the template that our calendar will have. If you are in doubt about the choice, you can experiment on another sheet of paper, and if the shape should be symmetrical, then fold the paper in half and cut out the desired shape. The calendar can be in the form of a house, heart, leaf, etc.

To ensure that the base is cut out accurately, it is best to use a breadboard knife, and it is better to cut it on a backing. The resulting edges on the cardboard should be sanded with sandpaper so that they are smooth and even.

For tinting, it is better to take paint or an ink pad.

When the basics are decided, we move directly to designing the calendar. On the back side we should glue a regular envelope in which our months will be stored. They will need to be changed when the time comes. In addition, in this envelope you can store various reminders or photos, which will also decorate the calendar in a certain month.

In order for the calendar to be hung on the wall, holes are made in its upper part through which a braid or cord is threaded and tied to the required length. If you use a satin ribbon or multi-layer cord, then its edges should be sealed with fire or covered with nail polish.

To save material, months can be printed on both sides, flipping to the other side when the time comes. It turns out that for one year you will need six such month leaves printed on both sides. If you don’t need to save, then prepare twelve of these pieces of paper.

The current month is attached to the front side of the calendar, and all the others are hidden in an envelope on the back side.

Decorating the front side of the calendar depends on your imagination and creative thinking. Here you can use various pictures, felt figures, stickers, buttons, beads and much more, the main thing is that you leave a suitable place for the leaf with the days of the month.

The leaves, which are tinted along the edges, look quite elegant.

This is what your homemade New Year or Christmas gift might look like.

Another tip: if the calendar is not too large, then instead of string you can use ordinary magnets. By gluing them to the back of the calendar, you can fix the calendar itself on the refrigerator, which will also be convenient and cute enough for a New Year's gift.

Today I’ll tell you how you can quickly make yourself a desktop desk calendar from paper and cardboard with your own hands. On the pages of my calendar there are empty windows for future sketches, but you can easily decorate such a blank to your taste by gluing your favorite photographs or any beautiful pictures into the windows. Such a handmade calendar can be an excellent gift for a friend for the New Year or February 14, especially if you decorate it with thematic photos, add funny inscriptions or wishes for each month. A desk calendar can be made very quickly, in 1-2 free evenings, and then it will make you happy all year long!

Necessary materials

  • 6 sheets of A4 size watercolor paper or any other thick cardboard - for pages with the names of the months
  • Breadboard knife
  • Paints and ink if you will write the names of months and dates by hand (or a printer to print the finished layout)
  • Soutache, satin or any other decorative ribbon - 20 cm (or 2 small rings for an album: you can disassemble a ready-made notebook on rings or buy rings in a store with goods for scrapbooking)
  • 1 sheet of scrapbooking paper 30.5 x 30.5 cm (or any other beautiful paper for the cover)
  • Cardboard 23x42 cm (I cut it from a sheet of ordinary Whatman paper)
  • PVA glue or glue stick
  • Stationery hole punch for 2 round holes
  • Ruler
  • Simple pencil

If everything is ready, then you can start. The scheme of operation is very simple:

  1. I make blank pages,
  2. I create a basis for a calendar from cardboard,
  3. I paint the pages
  4. I collect all the elements into a single whole.

Pages with months

I cut six sheets of A4 size watercolor cardboard in half and get 12 pages.

With a pencil I mark the middle of the sheet and draw a line along it. Aligning the center line with the mark in the middle of the hole punch, I make holes on 3 sheets at once.

I repeat the operation 3 more times and get 12 leaves with exactly matching holes.

Basis for the calendar

I cut out 2 rectangles measuring 22x15 cm from scrapbooking paper. These are the future endpapers of the calendar.

From whatman paper I cut out a sheet measuring 23 x 42 cm. From one edge I glue both rectangles of scrap paper to it one after another. After drying, I crease the folds and fold the triangle, not forgetting to leave 1-2 cm for gluing from the bottom to the side wall. At the top of the triangle I also mark the middle and make two holes with a hole punch. After this, I glue the bottom to the side wall and get a rather rigid structure, which will be the basis for our desk calendar.

A little lettering wouldn't hurt!

Pages with months can be designed in a thousand different ways, depending on your imagination, from the banal printing of ready-made templates to colorful drawings for each page.
You can make free lines for planning or notes. Since I make my calendar for sketches, it is important for me to leave some free space for future drawings. Therefore, I write the names of the months with silver acrylic paint, days and dates with black ink, and draw a stamp-shaped window in the center. This is what happens in the end.

Assembling the calendar

I cut 20 cm of soutache ribbon in half. I thread each piece from under the triangular base, pull it through the leaves with months and bring it back again, inside the base of the calendar, where I tie a knot.
It is important not to tighten the ribbons too much, leaving enough space for the pages to turn easily. I cut off the ends of the ribbon. The calendar is ready! If you need to draw something on it, you can fold it in half at any time, and then straighten it into a triangle again. It is very comfortable!

If you want to add a block for writing to your calendar, make it more colorful, or just practice scrapbooking one more time, then you can be inspired by this wonderful video master class from Lena Pol on creating a desk calendar with a fluffy fox.

I wish you a creative mood, great inspiration and the most interesting and beautiful calendars!
From cardboard, the site also has excellent master classes on creating postcards, postcards and paper ones!

In this tutorial you will find ideas for creating two New Year calendars. Such calendars will be a great gift for the New Year!

I made the first calendar according to the postcard-easel design, slightly reducing the lower part.

For the base of the calendar, I cut out pieces from white cardboard according to the pattern.

From scrap paper I cut out a square 14.5*14.5 cm and a rectangle 14.5*6.5 cm. From kraft paper I cut out a strip for a calendar measuring 7*12 cm. I tinted the edges with distress.

I glued all the details and the calendar onto the base.

I cut out a 2.5*10.5 cm flag from red paper and glued it to the base. I added a piece of lace and a watch.

A strip of white tulle was tied with linen rope and glued to the flag.

I glued two flowers, gray branches and a cherry.

I cut a large snowflake in half and glued one half to the composition. I added red stamens and stars.

On the bottom of the calendar I glued a strip of craft paper measuring 2.5*12 cm (the edge was torn off) and a red strip measuring 2.5*10.5 cm.

Lastly, I depicted snow with a white outline and glued rhinestones.

Once the calendar was ready, I decided to add some white sisal.

Second calendar I did it in an arc pattern.

I decorated it the same way, only I placed the composition horizontally at the bottom.
