DIY papier mache cat mk. Papier-mâché cat

To speed up the process, you should not dry the workpiece in the oven or put it close to the battery, otherwise cracks may appear, which will lead to deformation of the craft. It is better to leave the base to dry overnight and the next day continue to work with renewed vigor. After the ball is completely dry, on it again needs to be carefully applied with a layer of freshly prepared papier-mâché mass to give the shape of a cat's face. This is most conveniently done with a small wooden spatula or toothpick. First, form the eyes by rolling the mass into two balls, then the mouth and nose. To smooth out all possible irregularities and roughness, moisten the edge of the brush in PVA and walk over them with gentle movements, leveling the mass. Let the future cat papier-mâché dry again. At this stage, the figure can be fixed with a primer or immediately start painting. It is worth considering that thanks to the primer, the paint lays down smoother.

Making a cat out of papier-mâché

We carefully cut the ball and take out the plastic ball. Now we need to glue the two halves of paper again.
To make the frame, we use wire, make a skeleton out of it and glue it with strips from newspaper, leave everything to dry. The paper ball will be the head of the cat, it needs to be connected to the body.

Attention

With the help of glue and newspapers, we fix the head with the body, after which everything should dry well and gain a foothold. Now we make hands and a tail from the wire, wrap them with pieces of newspaper with glue and leave them to dry again.

Info

We fasten the tail and legs to the body with the help of newspapers and glue, again everything should dry thoroughly. We prepare the mass for papier-mâché, take toilet paper and PVA and glue the head and body with this mass.

Only after these parts are dry, you can begin to paste over the rest of the cat with a mass.

Making a funny piggy bank "toad" from papier-mâché

Cut a piece from the wire with pliers, wrap the neck with it to make papier-mâché doll handles. While wetting an elastic bandage with rubber glue, wrap it around the workpiece.
Now grease this bandage on top with PVA glue, attach papier-mâché here, forming the chest and back of the doll. From the same mass, make a head for her. To use less papier-mâché, you can first wrap the top wire with foil, then cover it with this mass, forming the facial features, ears.

Important

Leave the workpiece to dry until the end, then sand it, apply a putty. After the one dries, it also needs to be sanded with sandpaper.

To make hands, moisten cotton wool with an aqueous solution of PVA glue, apply it to the wire. Wrap an elastic bandage or strip of fabric with the glue dampened.
Make brushes out of polymer clay.

Until the layer is dry, we form a collar, cuffs on the legs and on the handles, everything should dry out. Using a brush or sponge, paint the entire cat in black.
We paint the muzzle in a light color, and paint the suit in a bright red color. We draw eyes and a mouth on the face. Cover it with golden acrylic on top, everything should dry out.

The final step is to thread in a suitable lace or chain. Now the cat keychain is ready. With emerald eyes For work we need the following materials:

  1. Newspaper.
  2. A mass of papier-mâché.
  3. Acrylic paints, artistic or gouache.
  4. Water-based acrylic varnish.
  5. Gypsum (without it).

Mass of papier-mâché We take toilet paper and fill it with boiling water, leave everything for 3-4 hours. After that we drain the water and squeeze out the paper, add PVA construction glue.

Workshops on making papier-mâché toys

You can use toilet paper rolls if you like. These blanks must be attached to the base with masking tape, and papier-mâché paste must also be applied on top.

Make a piglet out of a piece of foil, attaching it with toothpicks and tape. Cover it with toilet paper soaked in glue, shape the nose.

From it, you will need to mold the eyes, attach them in place with glue. Ears can be made from papier-mâché or from clay Now you need to leave the piggy bank so that the papier-mâché dries well.

Then we grind the workpiece with emery paper, after which we apply acrylic putty to it. We are waiting for it to dry, then we wipe the piggy bank with a damp cloth to level the product.

Apply the putty in several layers until the surface is even. We make a hole for coins with a clerical knife. We attach the tail, which must be made in advance from wire and papier-mâché.

How to make a cat out of papier mache: a cat sculpting master class

Using paints, small red pom-poms, finely chopped colored pieces of paper, he will make such a festive treat for dolls. When the paint is dry, it's time to arrange these cakes to decorate the toy table. In the same technique, you can make other children's crafts for the New Year. With their own hands, they will build blanks from foil, which must be pasted over with pieces of newspaper.

This process has just been described. To attach the toy to the Christmas tree, at this stage you need to tie the carpet ring with a cord or rope, as it was done in the photo hint. This is followed by another 2-3 layers of papier mache from newspapers, after which the Christmas tree decorations need to be painted.

Now you can make papier-mâché dolls, Christmas toys from the same material, a piggy bank. We suggest that you familiarize yourself with the process of making an apple.

If you do not have such a ball, then you can twist this figure from some newspapers. Slide the head blank over a piece of wire so that it is in the middle.

Bend the edges of the wire down. Separately wrap the hero's legs with newspapers soaked in liquid PVA, then cover the wire above this place with them, connecting both edges. Give the doll the desired shape by overlapping with a papier-mâché mass.

Making a horse. Bend the wire, as in the photo, wrap it with foil. Coat this blank with papier-mâché paste. When it's dry well, stick two pieces of wire into it to make the legs of the animal.

Cover the top of the piece with damp papier-mâché. Let the horse dry well. Now we need to add volume to both blanks, for this we also use papier mâché, including to make the ears and nose of the prince.

And we make the ears of the horse from cardboard, cutting out the parts of the corresponding shape.

Cat piggy bank made of papier mache ball

In this master class, yellow napkins were taken for this, their color does not matter. Form the body and nose of the hedgehog from such a mass. Let it dry, make the front legs, attach them to the tummy, using the same mass. Here are some interesting crafts for the New Year 2017. But for now, we need to let our hedgehogs dry well, then cover the arms and tummy with beige, and then also brown. We paint the thorns of animals in the reverse order - first we use a brown tone, then beige or white. Then the hedgehog's coat will be as if dusted with snow. Make eyes, eyebrows, mouth, nose out of plasticine, mold a mushroom, attach it between the arms of the animal. If you want, you can make the lower legs for the animal from plasticine or plastic, placing them at the ends of the laces, the middle of which is threaded through the upper hole.
To create them, you will also need materials that you do not need to buy - the savings are obvious. Take:

  • two toilet paper rolls;
  • cones;
  • mass for papier mache;
  • cotton pads;
  • paints;
  • plasticine;
  • glue Titanium;
  • two wooden skewers;
  • brush;
  • sparkles.

At the top, fold the cardboard into sleeves 1 and 2. Put cotton pads lubricated with PVA here, make a cone out of them, stick on a wooden skewer. Disassemble the cones into scales, glue them on one side of the roll, as well as on the sides.

Form the rows, starting from the bottom, staggered the elements of the subsequent rows. Use Titanium glue for this. At the beginning of this article, you read how to make a papier mâché mass out of toilet paper.

You can use other similar materials, such as paper towels.
Use a pencil and a ruler to mark the logs, doors, windows on it. Starting from the bottom, the papier-mâché mass is glued in strips. Decorate two sides at once, forming circles in the form of log cuts. Using a stack, make stripes on the door, logs, so that they convey the texture of the tree.

Make finer details of the door. Let the house dry for 24 hours. Blind a window, shutters from the mass for papier-mâché. Using a stack, decorate them with carvings.

We begin to make the attic, in the photo it is pink. Such elements need to be done above the window and above the door, then we decorate the roof. Having made a row on one side and on the other, leave it to dry, only then make one more tier. Then complete the third row and pipe. Use a stack to make a brick pattern here, then give these elements a roundness. There will be another row at the top of the pipe. Then we decorate the wall with polymer clay fly agarics.

After my first work "Bunny", having gained a little experience and taking note of my mistakes, I made just such a cat with emerald eyes (like my domestic cat).

So, we need:

  • mass of papier-mâché (see my recipe below)
  • newspapers
  • gypsum (it is possible without it)
  • paints (gouache or acrylic art)
  • water-based acrylic varnish (optional)
  • patience and free time :))

First, I made the head.

To do this, we crumpled a piece of newspaper, slightly wrapping it with threads (so that it keeps its shape and does not open), and we wrap it around with a mass. Then we take our ball and roll it between our palms until it becomes round (we do it like we rolled plasticine balls in childhood), dry it. At first, I tried to do the mass like this: toilet gray paper + PVA. Such a mass was pleasant to the touch, it was easy to sculpt from it, BUT impossible to sand! After consulting with the master, it turned out that I just had not yet found the very same PVA glue, so while in search ...

In the meantime, I do the mass like this: pour boiling water over the toilet paper, let it stand for 3-4 hours, then drain the water, squeeze it slightly and add PVA glue from the store's system. I add glue until the mass becomes slightly viscous, elastic (like thick fat sour cream). Then, just before applying the mass, I add the putty, a little, by eye. This will give the mass after drying, reduce shrinkage (which will look more aesthetically pleasing) and will be easier to sand.

Next, we make the "carcass" of our cat. To do this, I take a thick wire as a frame (you can use a piece of wire) and wrap a newspaper around it, forming a volume. We fix the newspaper either with masking tape, or wrap it with ordinary sewing thread, then apply the mass, let it dry well. Then we take our "carcass" and put it in a gypsum solution (gypsum + PVA + water), hold it for a few minutes to set it. I poured the gypsum solution directly onto the file (you can see everything in the photo). We are not worried about the ugliness of our future stand, it will still be refined!
We make the tail according to the same principle as the "carcass" (in the photo it is in the upper left corner)

I attached the tail to the "carcass" like this: first I glued the "Moment" glue, then smeared the joint with a mass (in the photo, the tail is still just glued).

Here the tail is already coated with mass (and thereby additionally strengthened). She pasted over the entire body with pieces of paper napkins (see photo below), creating folds, and thereby imitating fur.
In some places I corrected the stand by adding plaster mass. After drying, I sanded it a little, removing deep notches. The stand could be made differently, for example, from cardboard in several layers (corrugated cardboard). You can also put a lot on cardboard or glue it with napkins, or make craquelure from eggshell ... in general, there are many options! I made it from plaster, since the cat turned out to be rather big and rather weighty, so plaster of Paris is ideal in this case.

Now let's get down to the head ...
On our ball, in places we apply a mass of papier-mâché, forming a nose and cheeks. I cut the ears out of ordinary cardboard, glued them to the head (PVA or Moment) and coated them with mass.
Now we make eyes. I have such a tiny spoon at home, it is half the size of a teaspoon and just perfect as a shape for the eyes. In this spoon, I applied a plaster mass and after a couple of minutes pulled it out, we got such wonderful slanting cat eyes :)) It was possible to make eyes from the mass of papier-mâché, also in a spoon, but I wanted them to be perfectly smooth, as similar as possible to alive!

We glue the eyes to the head, glue the head with napkins, imitating the fur. precisely because of this stage in the work, I did not attach the head directly to the "carcass", in order to carefully glue it, getting to the most difficult places, and also to make it convenient to paint the head. But this is so convenient for me, you can connect all parts of the body at once ... :))
By the way, I almost forgot, I glued a napkin flagellum around my eyes. Firstly, this is how the eyelid turns out, and secondly, we hide the gaps between the eye and the head.

This is a rear view, here you can see what pieces I pasted over the cat.

Now we start painting. First, I painted everything black (with a building black color scheme, it costs 17.50 UAH). Then, with artistic acrylic paints (in gray), "prochpokala" (with a sponge) the wool. She painted her eyes with white paint, then painted the iris with green paints of different shades. Eyes covered with acrylic glossy varnish in several layers, this must be done, as they, after this procedure, become "alive"!

Here in the photo you can see what color scheme I used. I also applied a lot of papier-mâché to the stand.

We collect everything, glued the head with "Moment" (the one that is transparent after drying, gel; you can use the "Dragon"), holds on tight!
Then, with pure white paint, she again "poked" the whole cat. Where the mouth is slightly shaded with pink. This is how I ended up with it:

This is a rear view, this is an imitation of fur, "fluffiness" turned out :))

This is a stand. Coated with black paint, then silver, varnished. It turned out very beautifully against the background of a black and white cat ... But, unfortunately, because of the varnish, it glares and you can't see all the beauty ...

Well, a goodbye photo, the last ... :))

Girls, I myself am just learning and I know how important any information is, so I tried to explain it as clearly as possible for those who are just "going to try". I would be very grateful if experienced craftsmen give their advice, recommendations, leave a review. It is very important!

Girls, share your experience, ideas, because this is the only way a kind of exchange of positive, energy of goodness and joy takes place, because "the more you GIVE, the more you GET !!!

A cat made of papier-mâché, and even with your own hands, will be very interesting to look at. Therefore, I provide you with a master class on making a cat out of papier-mâché, which can quite "live" on the street or on the roof of your house. The article contains many step-by-step photos, looking at which you can easily make your pet.

So, to make a cat from papier-mâché, we need:

1) paper;

2) sticky tape, threads;

3) yoghurt cups;

4) wire;

5) PVA glue;

6) baby powder;

7) primer;

8) water-based paint;

9) gouache paints;

10) ship varnish.

First you need to prepare the foundation for the future cat. I've got a whole bunch of yogurt cups. Whoever has a small child will understand me, children are very fond of yoghurts. That is why I decided to apply this material for the base. Moreover, this form of cups is tightly attached to each other without any glue. Wrap the cups with cardboard, fix it with adhesive tape. I like to use masking tape, because he comes off without any problems with his hands. Any wire can be taken, preferably not very thin, so that it is strong enough. Measure the wire of the required size, you can bite off unnecessary using pliers or wire cutters. Aluminum wire can be easily broken off by hand, it just needs to be bent and straightened several times. The wire is also fixed with adhesive tape.

Now our cat needs to be shaped. This can be done using paper and adhesive tape, as in the photo below: Now the cat can be pasted over with paper. I take PVA glue, pour it into a separate container, add water, mix. It is this mixture that I use for gluing. At this stage, I attached the ears, which I cut out from the notebook cover.
To give the cat its firmness and strength, I cover it with a special mixture. To do this, I take PVA glue, add a little water and baby powder, tear up toilet paper into small pieces and grind it all in a blender. It turns out a thick, mushy mixture. With this mixture, I cover the entire surface of the cat, forming small details such as the eyes and nose. You need to cover in several stages. When the craft is dry, you can make a thinner mixture to help hide the roughness.
One more thing, you see, as the mixture was applied to the craft, I had to tie the tail with a thread. After the cat is dry, the thread is removed.

Now you need to treat all this with a primer. It is better to take a deep penetration primer with an antifungal additive if you want the cat to “live” on the street for a long time.

After that, the craft is covered with white water-based facade paint. Now in the store you can even buy a small bucket of such paint weighing 1.4 kg. This paint is enough for a dozen of these crafts, if not more.

After the paint has dried, the craft can be painted with gouache paints. We had a cat named Chernysh running here, so I decided to make such a color as Chernysh's.
Now you need to cover the craft with ship varnish. It is this varnish that will protect your cat from atmospheric influences in the best possible way. It is necessary to overlay 2 layers. When the cat is dry, it can be moved into permanent residence. This is how our Blackie looks like:

A little about the history of papier-mâché

Papier-mâché appeared in France at the beginning of the 16th century, where it was originally used to make dolls. Translated from French "papier mаche" means "chewed paper". Somewhat later, in the second half of the 17th century, imported Japanese and Chinese decorative items began to attract public interest, which served as a serious impetus to the development of papier-mâché in Europe.
In Russia, papier-mâché became popular, presumably in the era of Peter I, who had a significant impact on the development of various crafts, and also introduced the collection of various art objects into fashion. However, papier-mâché reached the level of industrial production of art products only in the 19th century, when lacquer miniatures began to be produced in Kholuy, Palekh and Fedoskino.
The flourishing of the production of papier-mâché products all over the world can be attributed to this time. So, in the British Isles, during the time of Queen Victoria, there were about 25 companies specializing in the production of such products. Some of the most famous craftsmen of this period were Bettridge and Jennings of Birmingham, who own their own stores in New York and London.
All people are different, and I am no exception. Working in a kindergarten as a teacher makes it possible to learn something new and interesting with the children. And I have a lot of interests, but I have been attracted by the papier-mâché technique lately. I especially like to take ready-made figures as a basis and turn them into another dummy.

Step-by-step manufacturing process

1. We take a toy - a cat (it is rubber, do not be afraid, then you will wash it). Next, prepare a mass for papier mache from toilet paper, apply to the toy (10 layers). Let dry for 1 day.
Now, in more detail, how to make a mass of papier mache from cooked ingredients: toilet paper, PVA glue, water.
We start by shredding toilet paper, which is best done with just your hands. It should be understood that the pieces should be as small as possible.
After all the paper is shredded, add water to it so that it covers all the paper. It will take about a day for complete swelling.
After the specified time has elapsed, the resulting mass should be carefully squeezed out. For the entire volume of the now semi-dry mass, about five hundred grams of PVA glue should be added. It is best not to pour out all the glue at once, but in small batches, gradually kneading and stirring the mass.

2. On a prepared blank - a toy, coat hard-to-reach places with glue and apply a mass, giving the desired shape.

3. Carefully coat the entire cat's blank with glue. Let dry for 2 days.

4. Cover the dried workpiece with white gouache and allow to dry. Draw the details and paint with the colors that you like.

5. Now we get down to making the rug. Take a regular box lid and cut out a circle from the decorative ceiling tile.

6. Using the super glue "Master", we glue the contour of the tile to the box and begin to paint in a circle as your imagination tells you.

7. Next, add strokes, thereby creating the effect of "rug brushes".

8. Place the cat Timosha on the rug using the "Master" super glue.
9. We take ready-made multi-colored balls and create a storyline - Timosha the cat plays with balls.

Here's a gift ready!
