What's in the article:

A luxurious fur coat with fluffy natural fur is every woman's dream. A mink coat is an indicator of a high prestigious social status, capable of instantly giving an image a special charm and emphasizing the femininity of its owner. The mink not only decorates its "mistress", but is also able to warm and give comfort even on the most severe frosty days.

How to determine when a fur coat needs to be cleaned?

Like any item from a woman's wardrobe, despite the most neat socks, a fur coat can get dirty and lose its appearance. Since a mink coat is quite expensive, it requires a more careful scrupulous attitude towards itself. So that the mink does not lose its appearance and qualities as a result of inept handling, you should figure out how to clean a mink coat at home correctly. First you need to determine if your fur coat needs cleaning.

  1. If, when directed to a fur garment by a stream of warm air from a working hair dryer, the pile is soft, easily fluffed and "scatters" to the sides, then you can clean it later.
  2. If there are traces of dust, dirt, plaque on the mink coat, yellowness has appeared, the white color of the fur coat has turned gray, the product has lost its shine, the villi are crumpled, stick together and hard to the touch - you cannot do without cleaning.

To make the mink look luxurious, it is not necessary to regularly clean it, all treatments should be carried out only as necessary and the degree of its pollution.

How to clean fur coats at home

With some knowledge and skill, cleaning a natural mink coat at home is not a complicated procedure and is quite affordable, excluding the possibility of damaging expensive fur by your wrong actions.

The home cleaning method provides for the following prohibitive conditions:

  • Wash it in the usual way (by hand, in a washing machine).
  • Use detergents not intended for processing fur (powders, gels, sprays).
  • Subject light (white) fur to local cleaning.
  • Carry out drying over an open fire, near heating batteries, heater.
  • It is strictly forbidden to iron the product with an iron and process it with hot steam.

If the mink coat gets wet due to rain or sleet, then it must be dried at room temperature in a well-ventilated room without drafts. Over time, the mink will dry out on its own and take on an attractive pristine appearance. If this condition is not met, yellowness may appear on the light pile.

We clean the fur coat at home

Cleaning a mink coat at home is a serious risk for the product. Therefore, before carrying out it, it is better to consult with specialists (specialized workshops or at the manufacturer). Each product requires its own approach in the choice of methods and means of cleaning it.

There are 2 ways to clean a mink coat:

  1. Dry
  2. Wet

Dry cleaning fur

Dry cleaning is the surest, safest and most suitable way to clean your mink coat at home.

To clean the fur in this way, dry home remedies are used, such as potato (corn) starch, wheat flour, talc. These products perfectly absorb dust, dirt particles, return the product to its original appearance, color saturation and shine. This method is perfect for cleaning light-colored as well as white fur.

You can clean fur coats at home in this way:

  • the product is carefully straightened and laid out on a dry flat surface,
  • with light, neat movements comb the pile with a soft brush with dull teeth,
  • sprinkle a cleaning agent (starch, flour, talc) on the surface of the fur, run the palm over the pile, gently rubbing the agent into the fur,
  • shake off the residues of the cleaning agent from the fur coat. If it has acquired a gray color, then the procedure is repeated again.

The main disadvantage of this method is the inability to remove greasy stains, yellowness, heavy dirt.

Wet cleaning of a fur coat

The wet method to clean the mink at home makes it possible to get rid of stubborn dirt, greasy stains, traces of yellowness.

Basic rules for wet cleaning a mink coat at home:

  • hang the mink coat on a hanger, straightening the shoulders, sleeves and all the irregularities,
  • wipe the product with a product in the direction of pile growth (for long-haired products), against the growth of pile (for short-haired products),
  • after processing, the fur is carefully combed with a special brush with rare blunt teeth,
  • dried in a well-ventilated room at room temperature.

A solution of 100 grams will help to clean the house and return the shine to the mink coat. natural pork fat, 10 gr. baby soap, 10 drops of ammonia (ammonia solution) and 1 liter of hot water. Mix everything thoroughly, cool. With a brush moistened with a solution, go over the pile of the fur coat, rubbing it slightly.

Homemade soap solution will help to clean and get rid of stains of tea, coffee, juice. Liquid soap is diluted in warm water, a sponge is moistened in it and the contaminated areas are wiped. Then the sponge is moistened in clean warm water and the remaining soap solution is washed off. The fur coat is well dried by hanging it on a hanger by the hanger.

Pure alcohol will help remove the greasy stain. Wipe the area with a greasy stain moistened with alcohol with a cotton pad. Then wipe the area with a cotton pad soaked in clean water.

Greasy stains can be easily cleaned by sprinkling with coarse table salt and then shaking off the residue.

Light contamination can be removed with an ammonia solution. To do this, add ammonia to the water in a 2: 1 ratio. Wipe the contaminated area with this solution, then you need to blot the cleaned area with a dry cloth. This method is suitable for light, white coats.

A solution of water and hydrogen peroxide, diluted in a 1: 1 ratio, will help to refresh and restore saturation to white fur. The more the manifestation of yellowness, the more concentrated the composition should be. The resulting composition is poured into a spray bottle and sprayed with mink fur. Then dry thoroughly.

A mixture of equal parts gasoline and potato starch will help clean the faux fur of a mink coat. The mixture is applied with a brush, allowed to dry, and then cleaned of residues.

Important! Before starting such cleaning, you should check the effect of this composition on an inconspicuous area with fur, since it can change the color of the pile, and also spoil the quality of the product. It is possible to use such a home composition only in extreme cases, when other methods have not yielded a qualitative result.

To add freshness and a pleasant aroma to a mink coat, spray treatment from a decoction of sage and lavender will help. You can dilute a few drops of essential oil (bergamot, grapefruit, rosemary, tea tree, neroli) in warm water. Pour the resulting solution into a spray bottle and spray the pile from a distance of 30 - 40 cm.

The fur coat should be stored in a spacious wardrobe away from foreign odors. To prevent the appearance of moths and mold, it is not recommended to put a polyethylene cover on a mink coat.

All of the above methods are suitable for both natural and artificial mink fur. To clean a white or light mink coat, you should choose methods that allow you to preserve the color and shine of the product, to avoid yellowness and grayness. If the home method of cleaning a mink coat is carried out correctly, then the fur has a uniform shine, the pile is pleasant to the touch and has a pleasant refreshing aroma.

A fur coat made of natural mink fur, with proper cleaning and care, can serve its owner for more than a dozen years.

Mink clothing is durable. If properly cared for, the fur coat will delight the hostess for many years. Unfortunately, over time, the fur grows dull, the villi become clogged with dust, the product loses its gloss and splendor. In dry cleaning, you can clean a fur coat and restore its former beauty, but dry cleaning of fur products is an expensive pleasure. Even if it is successful, the fur will not withstand more than five treatments. The effect of reagents dries up the skin, begins to tear, the product becomes unusable.

If the fur coat is not very dirty, I suggest cleaning it at home. Resourceful women who independently cope with the problem of losing a marketable coat and repairing a product willingly share secrets.

Why does the mink turn yellow

It is important to store white or light colored products correctly. Even under normal conditions, they change color over time, turn yellow. The reasons why the negative process is accelerating:

  1. Dust, dirt, chemicals in the air naturally penetrate the villi, the fur loses its shine and gloss.
  2. Cosmetics and perfumery, getting on the surface, contributes to the formation of stubborn stains.
  3. Violation in storage conditions, shortens the service life of the cloak, reduces wear resistance. When removing the product for a long time, use the refrigerator or the coolest room in the apartment.
  4. Enemy number one for wool and fur clothing is moth. If it starts up in the closet, it will ruin life for a long time. When packing a fur coat in a case for a long storage period, treat it with anti-moth preparations.
  5. Under the influence of sunlight, the color of the fur coat changes, the light fur becomes yellow. When choosing a fur coat, do not buy a product from a shop window.

Safety and Precautions

First, read the instructions and test the tool. Take a small patch of fur from the wrong side and apply the substance of your choice. If you are satisfied with the result, then process the entire fur coat. It is important to know:

  1. Normal detergents are not suitable for washing.
  2. Dry your fur coat at room temperature.
  3. Do not keep the fur close to a battery or heater, do not use a hair dryer to dry.
  4. Do not iron the coat with an iron. To maintain the shape, hang it on a hanger to size and it will return to its original form.

Peculiarities of cleaning white and blue mink

On light fur, dirt is more noticeable, so it is cleaned more often than dark fur. From constant exposure to extraneous chemical products, the mink wears out faster and loses its original shine. Clean light-colored furs with extreme care to maintain color, warmth and sophistication.

Folk remedies for cleaning mink fur coats and hats

Gasoline, starch or sawdust

With these tools, you can clean a fur product in three ways. They are suitable if greasy spots appear on the hat or fur coat. Take potato starch and refined gasoline, mix them until a homogeneous gruel is formed. Treat contaminated areas with the resulting mass and let the product dry. Do not force dry with a hair dryer or near heating appliances. Shake the dried mass from the product and clean thoroughly with a brush. Then comb the bristles with a fine-toothed comb to remove any remaining powder. At the end, vacuum the fur coat on a low mode.

Instead of potato starch, you can use sawdust. Purchase them at a pet store, mix with gasoline and clean the product using the same technology.

Starch, semolina, pharmacy talc

The substances act as absorbents, absorbing dirt and grease from the surface of the fur. To clean the product, take a handful of dry talcum powder, semolina or potato starch and sprinkle on the soiled areas. Then scrub gently with a brush. The substance with which the stain is treated will begin to darken, absorbing the dirt. Shake powder off product and vacuum.

Soap solution

Any shower gel, liquid soap, dye-free shampoo or pet shampoo will work. Make a solution - add a little detergent for soap and 2 - 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide to a container of water, stir until foam forms. Using a sponge, apply the mixture to the fur in the direction of the pile. After processing, remove excess moisture with gauze or absorbent material. Shake off the fur coat several times and dry naturally.

Peroxide and ammonia

Solution recipe:

  1. 1 glass of water;
  2. 3 tablespoons of hydrogen peroxide;
  3. 1 teaspoon of ammonia.

Mix the ingredients in a bowl and pour into a spray bottle. Spray the solution onto the fur, hang the coat on a hanger and leave it at room temperature. After a few hours, you can put it on. Use the mixture with care, as ammonia has a strong smell. Clean with the windows open and away from children and pets. Use a face shield and gloves.

For white mink garments where yellowing is particularly noticeable, use a less concentrated solution to prevent unwanted stains.

Blue

Stir the powder in water until a weak, light blue solution is obtained. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and treat the surface of the fur. After drying, shake off the fur coat and comb gently.

Salt and ammonia

Prepare a solution in the following proportions:

  1. 1 teaspoon fine table salt
  2. 1 teaspoon of ammonia;
  3. 1 glass of warm water

Mix the ingredients and use a swab to apply the solution to the contaminated areas. After drying, comb the fur.

Lemon juice and vinegar

Apply an aqueous solution of vinegar or lemon juice with a swab to the contaminated areas. Rub this place with a brush and dry. Ventilate the product and continue wearing.

Hot bran

Heat wheat bran in a skillet to 60 degrees. Spread evenly over the fur and rub gently into it. The bran should cool, then shake the product several times and remove the remaining crumbs with a brush.

How to clean the lining

To clean the lining, first kick it open and wash it. Iron a clean, dry cloth and sew in place. This method does not deform the fur coat, so it will last for many years.

If you clean the lining without steaming it off, you can ruin the product, as it will change its shape under the influence of moisture. If you wash the lining directly on the fur coat, soak the fur as little as possible.

Mink clothing care rules

  1. Store your fur coat by hanging it on a hanger in a tightly closed cabinet so that no dust gets there.
  2. In summer, keep in a special case in a cool, well-ventilated area.
  3. Shake the wet fur several times, blot it with a dry, highly absorbent napkin, hang it on a hanger and wait until it dries. Then comb the fur coat.
  4. Remove all dirt immediately, as old stains are less easy to clean.
  5. Remove dust from a fur coat as follows: wrap the product with a damp sheet, pat it lightly and shake it.

Video Tips

In order for a luxurious fur coat to please the hostess for a long time, regularly comb the crumpled fur. Start cleaning from inconspicuous areas. Do not leave the cloak in the sun or in drafts.

Is the dream of many women. When she appears in the wardrobe of a fashionista, each of them tries to wear an expensive product as carefully as possible. But, unfortunately, spots appear on delicate fur much faster than we would like. And then you have to think about how to clean a mink fur coat.

What you need for cleaning

It is worth remembering that spots are different. Naturally, difficult dirt must be removed by professionals. Fresh stains can be removed at home. Depending on the color of the fur, the mink is cleaned using the following ingredients:

  • talc;
  • mild shampoo;
  • alcohol and sawdust;
  • hydrogen peroxide.

These non-corrosive substances will help remove stains and will not damage the product. They only need to be used correctly. Each tool has its own technology, which must be strictly adhered to.

  1. Talc. Better to use it to clean light-colored fur. It is unacceptable that the cleaning of a fur coat is done with flour or starch (some try to use them instead of talcum powder). To clean the product, you need to sprinkle the dirty area of \u200b\u200bdry fur with talcum powder and distribute it over the entire area. Then you need to shake the product, shaking off excess talcum powder.
  2. Shampoo. Since mink wool is similar in structure to hair, it can be simply washed. To do this, use mild shampoos (preferably with conditioner). After carefully rinsing the dirty area, rinse it with running water and dry it with a warm hair dryer. Then hang the fur coat to dry in a dry and warm place. With such cleaning, you need to take several days to dry.
  3. Sawdust. On an industrial scale, the fur is cleaned with sawdust before use. They can also be used at home to clean the mink efficiently. To do this, buy the smallest sawdust at the pet store. Put a spoonful of wood shavings in a glass of rubbing alcohol. After 10 minutes, spread the swollen sawdust over the fur. They will absorb all the dust and dirt collected on it. After half an hour, clean the product with a hard brush.
  4. Hydrogen peroxide. This method is used in case of yellowing of the fur. Mink turns yellow evenly over time and under the influence of temperature extremes. To remove yellowness, mix hydrogen peroxide with water in a 1: 1 ratio. Pour the solution into a spray bottle and spray the fur coat, after hanging it on a hanger. After that dry the product and comb it with a fine comb.

After “home cleaning” you can wear a women's fur coat for several more years. If you notice any dirt that has appeared, have it dry cleaned for professionals to clean the product. To preserve the result obtained in the off-season, store the fur coat in a light case. Try not to wear it when it is snowing or raining outside.

Take it to your wall:

A mink coat is not just a wardrobe item, it is also an indispensable attribute of a gorgeous woman. Soft and sparkling fur protects the hostess from winter cold and attracts admiring glances. The mink is not cheap, it looks amazing - it's no wonder that such a fur coat is carefully looked after and taken care of in every possible way. But even in conditions of increased accuracy, outerwear can get dirty or fade over time. In order for the fur to play in the sun again, the fur coat needs to be cleaned. Of course, I don't want to carry it to the dry cleaner and lay out a big sum. So the question arises: how to clean a mink coat at home.

What can I say here? When a treacherous stain suddenly appears on a brand new fur coat, it is hardly worth taking the risk and rubbing it with gasoline and sawdust, as recommended by "craftsmen" and free advisers. If the mistress of the fur coat has enough sanity not to engage in amateur activities, but to find the best dry cleaner in the city with qualified personnel and good reviews, the product will be saved.
Dry cleaning
It is worth cleaning a mink coat yourself and at home only if the pollution is very small, for example, the product is dusty and has lost its shine.

To deal with this, we need talcum powder. The fur coat should be laid out on a horizontal surface and lightly sprinkled with talcum powder, then gently rub the fur with your hands (it is better to wear clean cotton gloves for this). Then gently shake off the talcum powder from the fur. The procedure can be repeated.

Do not try to substitute starch, flour, or cereals for talc. So you can ruin the fur coat: perhaps the remnants of food between the villi will attract insects (the same moth) or, getting wet from melted snowflakes, they will start to deteriorate - this is unlikely to benefit the expensive fur. And although the likelihood of such an outcome is not very high, it is hardly worth the risk.

Wet cleaning
If you decide on wet cleaning, find yourself using harsh detergents. Better to give preference to baby shampoo diluted with water. First try the solution on a small area that is not visible - on the back of the collar, for example. If everything is in order, you can start cleaning the entire fur coat. To do this, you need to hang it on a hanger. Now gently apply the foam with a swab and immediately wipe it off with a clean, dry cloth. Make sure that the liquid does not get on the "skin" - you can only clean the nap. After you finish cleaning, let the fur coat dry well, just do not leave it to dry close to a radiator or heater.

No matter how great the desire is to clean the fur coat at home, if you have even the slightest doubt about the success of this enterprise, it would be better to go to a dry cleaner. There is no risk here - modern cleaning technologies allow you to be sure of the safety of your fluffy property.

A good housewife constantly checks the condition of her clothes. She will certainly notice when the coat needs to be put in order. To begin with, it is worth determining what exactly needs to be applied: deep cleansing or it is enough to comb out the fur coat and ventilate it. This is easy to do:

  1. Blow on the fur so that a funnel forms in it and the skin becomes visible. Shake the fur coat and see how flat the fur is. Then sniff it: if there is no unpleasant smell, then it is not yet time for deep cleaning of the fur. You just need to comb out and ventilate the fur product.
  2. In case the pile has become dull, has lost its splendor, it's time for a deep cleaning.
  3. On the eve of spring and after long storage in the closet, the coat must certainly be put in order and refreshed. This should be done even if there are no signs of contamination.

Such a procedure is necessary if the fur has lost its characteristic shine, its shade has become uneven, the pile is a donkey, a dusty or greasy coating has appeared on the hairs, the fur has become tangled or formed nodules, the flesh is clogged with small debris.

If a little dirt is noticed on the product, it can be removed at home with an ordinary hair dryer. It is enough to direct an air stream to the problem area from a half-meter distance. If the hairs first fly apart, and then fall back to their original place, it means that the fur coat does not need deep cleaning. But if the hairs do not move under the pressure of air, you cannot do without cleaning.

When does a mink coat need cleaning?

Each mink fur product, regardless of its style, style and color, is capable of absorbing dust particles, the smell of expensive perfume. Traces of foundation or lipstick can be imprinted on a fur coat, often nodules and lumps appear on a wardrobe item.

What to do, how to clean your favorite beauty at no extra cost - this question remains relevant for most girls on the eve of cold weather.

Are you wondering how to clean a mink fur coat at home? Right now, you will learn how to do it quickly, efficiently and, most importantly, without harming the fur.

Do I need cleaning

First of all, you need to decide whether your fur coat needs cleaning. Of course, if you get it dirty in transport or splashes on the fur from under the wheels of the car, the need to eliminate the pollution is obvious.

If you are thinking about how to clean the fur from the accumulated dust and possible grease, we recommend that you use a regular hair dryer to dry your hair.

Direct a stream of air at the fur coat at a distance of at least 40-50 centimeters. If the hairs of the fur easily and freely fly away and form a small open area in the center of the air flow, which disappears as soon as you remove the hairdryer, and the hairs fall into place, then we can conclude that your product does not need cleaning.

In this case, it is better not to injure him and just send him for storage.

If, under the flow of air, the hairs remain motionless or stray into bunches, your fur coat really needs a properly selected cleaning.

Dry cleaning

In order to remove dirt from a fur coat, you only need a brush for the care of fur products with short metal bristles. First, the product must be thoroughly dried without using artificial heat sources.

The method of cleaning mink products with the help of semolina has proven itself perfectly. It is suitable if the product has been worn for a long time and has generally lost its original appearance, is dusty and has lost its luster.

Use gentle hand-wash motions to treat the desired areas for 30–45 seconds.

Semolina is an excellent abrasive that quickly removes dirt from fur. Finally, shake the product and go over it with a special brush, which we wrote about above.

Some people recommend using starch instead of semolina. If, after the described manipulations, the starch became darker, then the fur was really dirty and the cleaning procedure should be repeated once or several times until the starch remains snow-white.

Wet cleaning

One of the popular methods for cleaning mink fur is brushing it out with a brush dipped in gasoline. It should be noted that this manipulation is not recommended with very light fur, otherwise it will turn yellow.

The brush should be operated lightly, without pressing or trying to completely wet the fur. It is very important to follow the necessary safety precautions, work in a room with open windows and away from a fire source.

Peroxide

How to clean a mink fur coat at home with vinegar? Very simple. Prepare a vinegar solution (no more than 5%) and follow the recommendations for hydrogen peroxide cleaning.

The most important thing is not to overdo it and not get the base of the fur wet. Process the product without pressure, squeeze the cotton pad after soaking in the solution.

Reviews

Natalya: “A friend recommended me a very gentle way of cleaning mink fur with wheat bran. They must be dried in the oven on a baking sheet, and then put on a fur coat and try to rub the bran slightly against the direction of hair growth.

Marina: “I do not clean my coat with a liquid starch solution - it is not so easy to completely remove it from the fur, it clogs in and swells if snow gets on the fur. I prefer dry starch: it seems to me that there is simply no better way to care for a white mink coat ”.

Elena: “I have a chocolate-colored mink coat. I have worn it for more than a year now, and I use an ammonia solution for cleaning at the end of each season. I mix 4 parts water and one part ammonia and work the fur coat in the direction of hair growth using a cotton swab. Let the fur coat dry and pack. "

At the end of the article, we want to draw your attention to some of the taboos that exist in caring for mink fur:

  • It is strictly forbidden to wash the fur using water and detergents. Such cleaning will entail irreversible consequences; it will no longer be possible to return the product to its previous appearance.
  • Drying in close proximity to a source of artificial heat. These sources include batteries, heaters, and even a hair dryer. If you get caught in snow or rain, dry your mink coat on a hanger in a room at room temperature.
  • Exposure to fur with an iron. The iron cannot be used to smooth out creases on the fur, and this applies to ironing from the side of the lining. If you stored the fur coat folded (which is not recommended), hang it on a hanger and let the fur straighten out without any forced action on your part.

Using our tips, you can extend the life of your mink garment, keep it intact and enjoy beautiful and warm fur in the winter cold.

After a long winter with the onset of warmth, fur coats, fur hats, vests and boots are placed in the closet for a long time.

To extend the service life of the products, it is necessary to store them correctly, and before storing them, tidy up, clean, dry and comb thoroughly.

To get rid of dirt on your favorite fur coat or collar made of fur, it is not at all necessary to take the product to dry cleaning, where it can be ruined.

Yes, and dry cleaning does not always take on the cleaning of natural fur, and if it does, it costs a lot of money.

In addition, chemicals contain aggressive components and significantly reduce the life of the item. It is much better to have patience and very inexpensive improvised means, so that you can easily clean fur products with high quality without leaving your home.

Dusty coating, loss of brightness or color uniformity, debris in the hairs, stains of various origins, mats, tangled and greasy fibers indicate fur contamination. But how to clean fur at home if it cannot be washed, dried near heat sources and ironed? In fact, everything is very simple - the main thing is to choose the right ingredients.

You can check the degree of contamination of the fur by directing an air stream from a hair dryer at it. If the villi easily fly away in the direction of the air, and then return to their place, they shine, then dust has not accumulated in the fur coat, and it does not need cleaning. When the villi are stuck together, greasy and look messy, the product needs help.

Dust is easily removed if the fur coat is wrapped in a clean, damp sheet or any cotton cloth and vigorously knocked out. It is more convenient to knock out by spreading the sheet on the floor, laying the product on it with the pile down.

Lemon juice diluted in equal amounts with water gives a well-groomed look and shine well. The fur is wiped with a sponge soaked in a solution and well wrung out, after which it is dried and combed with a comb.

We clean the white fur coat

To remove dirt, you need semolina, chalk, talcum powder, baby powder or potato starch, which is generously sprinkled on the fur. The porous structure of the materials will absorb impurities, the substances will polish the hairs and give them additional shine. You can use rye or oat flour to clean rabbit or hare fur.

With gentle movements, the croup is rubbed into the pile, after which the coat must be shaken well. The remains of starch are combed out with a brush, first in the direction of wool growth, and then against. The gray color of the starch is a sure sign that the coat was really dirty.

A teaspoon of hydrogen peroxide diluted in a glass of water with the addition of a few drops of ammonia will help to restore the dazzling whiteness of the product. With this tool, you need to spray the fur from a spray bottle and hang it out to dry in the sun, but not more than for one day.

Water, alcohol and vinegar mixed in equal amounts will help here. The solution is applied using a soft bristled brush or terry towel. For the best effect, you can wipe the pile several times, and then dry the fur coat outdoors.

This method can be used to remove stubborn stains. It is based on the use of aggressive ingredients that require care and attention, otherwise you can ruin an expensive item.

Before starting cleaning, the fur coat must be hung on a hanger and left in an upright position. And at the end - comb with a brush and dry well. The following remedies are recommended:

  1. A solution of gel, shampoo or soap. It is made depending on the volume of the fur coat: the wider and longer it is, the more water and detergent will be required. First, add 100 ml of laundry soap, shower gel or shampoo to a container of warm water. With a sponge moistened with this solution, wipe the fur on the problem area, and the hairs should be moistened from tips to roots. String pieces of cotton wool on the teeth of the comb and comb the treated area. This method will not only cleanse the fur of dirt, but also return it to its former shine.
  2. Petrol. The best way to clean a dirty collar is to use aviation gasoline or lighter gasoline. This is a tricky area that usually has cosmetic stains. To prepare the solution, mix gasoline and burnt magnesia to a mushy state. With the resulting product, cover the dirty area, wipe the fur against the lint. Dry, then comb out the pile and wipe with 5% vinegar.
  3. Ammonia and salt. Dissolve a tablespoon of salt in a glass of warm water, add half a teaspoon of ammonia there. Moisten a soft cloth in this mixture and gently clean the fur coat.
  4. Alcohol or vodka. It is also a very effective way to return a chic look to a fur coat. Add a few drops of alcohol or vodka to half a glass of hot water, stir. In this mixture, moisten a cotton swab and clean the stains with it in the direction of the pile.
  5. Vinegar. The working solution is made up of water and vinegar in a 5: 1 ratio. Moisten a cotton pad in it and wipe the fur with light movements. After drying, comb the fur coat thoroughly.
  6. Hydrogen peroxide. It does not need to be diluted, you can use it directly from the bottle: pour it onto a cotton swab and immediately treat the stained area. If a dark mark remains on the tampon after the first treatment, it must be changed and the procedure repeated. Next - dry and comb.
  7. Ammonia. This tool can clean both light and dark fur. It effectively removes stains as well as various odors. After that, the fur coat regains its original shine. To prepare the solution, you will need one part of ammonia for three to four parts of water.

How to refresh the lining of a fur coat

If the fur can be cleaned by sprinkling it with absorbents, then the greasy lining of the fur coat is not so easy to renew. Two options are possible here:

  • Unfasten the fabric with a sewing tool and then wash normally. This must be done carefully, without disturbing the temperature regime, so that the lining does not shrink. Then all that remains is to dry the fabric and sew back.
  • How to clean the lining of a fur coat directly on it? The main rule in this matter is not to get the skin wet. A soft brush is impregnated with soapy water and passed over the fabric. For tough stains, use a non-chlorine bleach solution. After that, all this is washed off with a brush dipped in clean water. The lining is well dried with paper towels and left to dry on a hanger. Some stains from the fabric can be removed with ammonia.

It is easy to care for the inside of a fur coat, knowing one secret. An extra strip of fabric can be sewn onto the bottom of the lining, which often gets dirty from boots or colored jeans. It will certainly be easier to rip off and wash it than to clean the factory lining.

Try to wear a fur coat made of natural fur - it does not matter, from a silver fox, arctic fox or a rabbit - only in frosty weather, do not dry near heating radiators and heaters, and it will serve you for many years.

If there is little dirt, then the product is dried, and then the dry dirt is cleaned with a brush.

There are two options for cleaning the lining:

  • Unfasten the lining. After that, the lining is machine washed on a delicate wash cycle. After drying, the fabric is ironed and sewn onto the fur coat again.
  • No steaming. In this case, there is no need to steam the lining. Prepare a soapy solution and apply it to the lining. Try not to get the inner layer of the fur coat wet. Then rinse everything off with a damp cloth and blot with a clean, white towel. Hang on a hanger and let dry.

Many are interested not only in fur cleaning, but also in how to clean the lining of a fur coat. For high-quality processing, experts advise to carefully peel off the lining and wash. The lining of a mink coat made of polyester and silk is washed in a washing machine or by hand at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees.

After washing, the lining is thoroughly rinsed in cool water to completely remove soap traces and eliminate streaks. The fabric is dried at room temperature away from battery and sunlight, and then ironed and sewn back to the garment. Read here how to properly wash, dry and iron silk items.

If you don't want to sew the lining, clean the fabric right on the fur coat. The procedure must be performed carefully and carefully so as not to wet the bottom layer of the fur skin. The material is treated with soapy water using a soft brush or foam sponge and then washed off with a clean sponge or damp cloth. Then the lining is dried with a cloth and the fur coat is hung on a hanger until it is completely dry.

Often it is the lining, on which all traces of sweat remain, that requires more thorough cleaning than the pile of a fur product.

To clean the material qualitatively, without affecting the fur and leather base, you can only unfasten it or strip it. The lining is washed by hand or using an automatic washing machine, selecting the mode according to the type of material.

For silk and other fabrics that require delicate care, a mode with a temperature of up to 40 degrees is required. It is customary to wash cotton fabrics at high temperatures. After washing, the product is thoroughly rinsed so that there are no stains from the detergent. In the last step, the lining is ironed and sewn into place.

If the owners of mink coats do not dare to rip off the lining, fearing difficulties with high-quality stitching in its original place, then it is permissible to clean it without removing it from the fur base. This will require a soapy water solution, a soft brush, an absorbent cloth, and dry paper towels.

Liquid soap is dissolved in warm water and gently remove dirt with a soft brush, being careful not to touch the leather base and its back. Excess liquid used on a fur garment and foam are eliminated with a damp, clean cloth. Dry the surface with paper towels.

Compliance with the rules of care and cleaning helps to extend the life of mink things.

Mink coat embodies tenderness, smoothness, wealth and charm, in order to be able to enjoy the soft touch of natural fur for as long as possible, you need to take care of your thing and take care of it carefully, and then all your work will not go down the drain.

Real fur needs cleaning much less often than lining, which needs to be washed regularly. For you need to very carefully and diligently rip off the lining, make sure that the skin is not damaged and wash the lining.

Note! When washing the lining, you need to be guided by the type of fabric, otherwise the fibers will settle, and the fabric will decrease in size. It is best to wash a silk lining or a lining made from polyester in warm water, but first measure its temperature (it should be close to 40 degrees Celsius).

Cotton is not afraid of high temperatures, so the lining on which stubborn stains flaunt can be washed in hotter water.

You can clean the lining of a fur coat without stripping it off the product - this method is the most acceptable, because it is quick to execute.

To do this, you need to have at your disposal a soft rag, moisten it in soapy water and walk along the surface of the lining with it, pay special attention to greasy areas. Be careful not to drip the bottom layer of the hide (flesh).

When disposing of a recently purchased little thing - your favorite fur coat, follow a number of rules:

  • do not forget to regularly comb the fur, but in no case do it unnecessarily;
  • the optimal time for cleaning a fur product is the end of the season, just when you have to hide the fur coat in the closet, "out of sight - out of mind", since you won't have to wear it in the summer;
  • on any fur coat it is strictly forbidden to carry out with a hot iron;
  • in no case should you treat a fur coat with a powder, the composition of which is enriched with enzymes that can spoil a fur product; the ideal option is to use a liquid powder.

Important! This experiment cannot be done with flour or starch. These products, remaining between the villi, will swell at the first snow or rain, ruining your fur. They will also attract insects.

  • Lather the shampoo in a basin of warm water.
  • Apply foam to dirt using a cotton pad, rub lightly.
  • Take a foam sponge and moisten it with clean water to remove the remaining foam.
  • Dry the fur coat with a paper towel, comb through with a comb, hang on a hanger and leave to dry naturally. It is better not to use a hairdryer.

In the same way, you can clean the fur inserts on the jacket and gloves.

A fur coat of such an exquisite color is extremely easily soiled. The pile must be cleaned only with compounds that do not contain dyes. From dry matter, it can be talc. For wet cleaning - solutions with the addition of ammonia or hydrogen peroxide.

  1. Sprinkle the dirty areas on the fur coat with a thin layer of talcum powder, after two to three hours remove the powder and comb the pile.
  2. Pour a tablespoon of peroxide into a liter of water, moisten a cotton pad in this solution. If the product is long-haired, clean it with movements according to the location of the fur, if the nap is short - against. Then the coat is dried and combed.
  3. Dissolve one tablespoon of ammonia and three tablespoons of salt in two liters of water. Clean, dry and comb the pile.

The fur coat in beige and cream shades is particularly sophisticated. But she also needs constant care. As soon as even a slight yellowness appeared, action must be taken. You will need a 5 percent hydrogen peroxide solution. Traditional treatments will remove stains and eliminate unpleasant odors.

To restore the delicate blue color of the product, all you need is blue. Powder or concentrated solution must be mixed with water until a light blue color is obtained. With a sponge moistened with this product, gently process the fur, dry it and comb it.

With the black color of fur, you don't have to rack your brains than to clean an expensive item. Most recipes will do. But the most effective method is still original: you need bran and walnuts.

At the first stage, you need to warm up the bran to about 65 ° and clean the pile with them. Then, with a bag of nuts crushed to a state of flour, gently rub the villi from the very root to the ends. Walnut oil will give the product its characteristic shine.

Over time, white mink fur loses its original purity, its presentation is also lost. At the first glance at such a fur coat, you can see a barely noticeable yellowness, which appears as a result of exposure to white light with ultraviolet rays and electric lighting - and this is quite natural.

A fur coat of beige and cream shades looks the most beautiful of all, and how much annoyance and sadness the fact that it gets dirty gives us!

A slight yellowness on a fur coat can be easily removed with the help of standard 5% hydrogen peroxide, which, for sure, every person has at home at hand - and if still not, then do not forget to get it, because this is a very useful thing!

Before you start cleaning an expensive white fur coat, dilute the peroxide with water in a 1: 1 ratio, pour the resulting solution into a spray bottle and spray it on the fur coat on both sides, do not forget about the armpits and the inner surface of the sleeves.

The fur coat will again become snow-white, brand new, in it you will always look elegant and extravagant, you will keep up with the times!

Natural adsorbent for fur is potato starch and semolina, these fine-crystalline substances can give clothes a second wind, remove plaque, remove particles of dust and dirt.

The essence of the procedure is extremely simple: the fur product is placed on a flat surface, for example, a table, then the surface of the clothes is sprinkled with a loose substance and the entire surface is carefully worked over with a special brush with soft bristles.

Mink fur is sensitive to any external influences, it perfectly absorbs foreign odors in the air, especially the smell of high quality toilet water.

Try to sprinkle perfume on your favorite fur coat as little as possible, all scents tend to mix with each other over time, forming a single unpleasant composition.

If you suddenly notice that your beloved fur coat has begun to smell somehow alien, take it out into the street to ventilate.

If, along with foreign odors, there are imprints of foundation and lipstick on the fur coat, then you can get rid of them with the help of medical alcohol, for this, a cotton cosmetic disc is moistened in a solvent and the stubborn dirt is removed.

There are many ways to clean fur products. Of course, the easiest option is to dry-clean the coat. But this is quite expensive and thus you can ruin the product.

Fur cleaning methods:

  • Lemon juice . To do this, dilute lemon juice with water in a bowl in a ratio of 1:10. After that, the product is wiped with a sponge dipped in a solution. After that, the product is dried and the fur is combed out.
  • Knocking out. This is a way to help remove dust. To do this, the product is wrapped in a white sheet with the pile down and knocked out.
  • Starch. Starch is applied to the product. After the fur coat hangs for a day, the flour is combed out. Directly in the direction of hair growth, and then against it.

One of the best ways to clean white fur coats is hydrogen peroxide or sawdust with gasoline.

Instructions:

  • Pour the sawdust with refined gasoline and squeeze out
  • Spread the fur coat on the table and sprinkle it with wet sawdust
  • Leave the sawdust to dry completely, shake off the product
  • Carefully remove any remaining cleaning agent with a brush

Mink coat care rules

There are many rules for caring for a mink coat.

What not to do:

  • Wash your fur coat by completely dipping it in water
  • Dry near radiators or fireplaces
  • Use an iron or hair dryer to dry
  • Light coats cannot be cleaned with tea leaves
  • Dark fur should not be cleaned with hydrogen peroxide.

As you can see, it is quite easy to clean a fur coat made of natural fur. A little time and patience is enough for this.

In order to be able to shine in public with the breathtaking beauty of mink fur for a longer time, you will have to invest all the efforts in self-cleaning the fur product.

Warning! It is strictly forbidden to wash fur, no matter how dirty it is! It is also forbidden to use powders, as well as special detergents that are not intended for cleaning a fur coat, otherwise the unsurpassed appearance of an expensive product will be irrevocably lost, the fur may fade, and that is no exception, it will begin to fall out.

You cannot dry a mink coat in the immediate vicinity of heating devices, batteries of a heating system, sources of artificial heat, since this will not lead to anything good.

If you are caught in the rain, do not panic, but rather hang the fur coat on a hanger and dry it at room temperature, in no case should you use a hair dryer for this purpose.

Cleaning natural fur with flour is also not permissible under any circumstances, this organic substance, despite the fact that it is an excellent consumable for some types of stains, can get stuck between the fibers and swell in wet, rainy weather, as a result, sticky lumps that are difficult to remove are formed.

Just imagine what your favorite fur coat will turn into, on the purchase of which you had to pay a whole fee, what it will turn into, as soon as it starts to snow on the street, it will rain!

When cleaning mink fur, there is a high risk of being negligent or not taking into account the characteristics of the substances used. Actions that are undesirable during the care of an expensive product:

  1. Washing is strictly prohibited. Under the influence of detergents and water, it loses its shape, the skin becomes rough and dry.
  2. Do not use a hair dryer with a wet cleaning method.
  3. Under no circumstances should the iron be involved in the drying process. The product will retain its natural shape if you use regular hangers.
  4. It is necessary to clean a mink fur coat only when necessary. From too frequent procedures, fur shedding can begin.

To clean the fur of a fur coat at home, it is allowed to use only the most gentle and gentle methods, and also to exercise increased caution. Otherwise, there is a risk of ruining an expensive product.

How to clean?

Proper storage will increase the overall life of the coat. However, before sending it to the closet before the first cold weather, the fur must be cleaned, dried, and then combed to give it a neat and attractive look.

Contacting a dry cleaner does not always help to achieve the desired results, moreover, often too aggressive cleaning agents are used in such organizations, under the influence of which the fur can become fragile, brittle and rare. Such prospects are not at all encouraging, are they?

Therefore, in some cases, it will be much better and more reliable to clean the fur of a fur coat at home, using for these purposes affordable and safe improvised means that act gently and effectively at the same time.

When are cleansing procedures for a fur coat required? To understand this, carefully examine the fur. Important signals will be such moments as:

  • dust deposit;
  • the presence of debris in the hairs of the fur;
  • tangled and rolled villi;
  • dullness and uneven color;
  • a feeling of grease in the fur;
  • the presence of stains.

If you notice one or more "symptoms", it means that your coat needs immediate cleaning.

When choosing a suitable method, do not forget that it is strictly forbidden to wash, iron, or dry natural fur near appliances that emit heat.

Competently choosing simple and affordable tools for everyone, you can clean well at home a fur coat made of any type of fur - mink, silver fox, astrakhan fur, rabbit and others.

Before you clean a fur coat made of natural fur, you need to find out how dirty it is. It is very easy to do this at home - just turn on a regular hairdryer and direct a stream of air onto the fur.

At the same time, clean fur fibers will easily fly to the sides and just as easily return to their place. But with sticky and weighted villi, nothing like this happens.

In addition, their appearance is very untidy, which, in turn, signals that the fur coat needs immediate assistance.

Dust deposits are the easiest to remove. For this you need:

  • gently wrap the fur coat with a slightly damp sheet (made of natural cotton fabric;
  • in this form, spread the product on the floor with the pile down;
  • knock out intensively.

There are other ways to do this. You can, for example, use a special metal brush designed for animal hair. But it is extremely undesirable and risky to use a vacuum cleaner for this, because direct air currents are harmful to the state of natural mink fur and other species.

After such a simple cleaning, the fur coat must be placed in a special case - it will protect the product from dust, as well as from an attempt by an insidious moth.

If, in addition to dusty deposits, there is also light pollution, use lemon juice:

  • mix the juice with water in equal proportions;
  • moisten a soft foam sponge in the resulting solution;
  • carefully treat every area where dirt is present;
  • air dry the fur coat;
  • comb the fur thoroughly to make it fluffy and attractive.

In the event that there are paraffin stains on the fur, they can be removed in winter. You should do this:

  • take out the fur product to the balcony;
  • wait for freezing;
  • very carefully, using the index and thumb, remove the paraffin from the villi. This can only be done from the base to the tips.

This method is suitable for both natural and artificial furs.

Before you clean the fur of a mink fur coat from dirt, it should be borne in mind that different methods are applicable for light and dark colors.

For cleaning light shades of fur at home, you can use the following available tools:

  • talc;
  • flour;
  • potato starch;
  • baby powder.

All of the listed products have a porous structure, thanks to which they are able to perfectly sand every lint and give an attractive shine to a fur product.

Any of the selected means should be sprinkled evenly over the entire fur coat, rubbed into the pile with light movements, and then shaken off. As a result, the color of the talc or starch will turn gray - this indicates significant contamination.
