Beautiful easy idea for manicure with gel polish. Gel polish at home: application, removal and design options

Today it will not be difficult even for a beginner to make a beautiful manicure at home. For this there are a lot of aids, for example, such as stickers, stencils, etc. However, until recently, home manicure had one significant drawback - it was very short-lived. Everything changed with the advent of shellac (differently gel polish). This is a cross between a regular varnish and a gel. The main advantage of shellac is that it lasts more than 2 weeks. Moreover, it can be used even at home. In addition, gel polish manicure has a very beautiful saturated glossy shade.

So, the advantages of gel polish are obvious. It remains only to find out how to apply it at home what is needed for this, as well how to remove it later .

What is necessary:

  1. Basic coverage,
  2. Color gel polish,
  3. Top coat (fixer or top),
  4. Degreasing agent,
  5. Ultraviolet lamp,
  6. Cuticle oil,
  7. Grinding files,
  8. Cuticle Removal Tool,
  9. Orange stick.

Working process

Step 1. Put your nails in order: shape, clean them, remove cuticles. Next, use a buff file to grind the nail plate. This is necessary for better adhesion of the coating to the nail. Pay particular attention to the edges and base of the nail.

Grind the nail plates with a buff file

After that, wipe your nails with a napkin previously moistened with a degreaser. By the way, if this is not the case, then you can use alcohol or nail polish remover.

Step 2. Now proceed with the base coat application. Apply it as thinly as possible. Thoroughly paint over the plate from the outside and inside, this is necessary in order for the manicure to last longer. After place your nails under an ultraviolet lamp for 1-2 minutes (if the lamp power is less than 36 W, then you need to dry longer).

When creating a manicure with gel polish at home, it is recommended to use a 36 W UV lamp. However, this coating can dry out even in less powerful lamps. (For example, I used a 3 W lamp, the coating also cures, however, I increased the polymerization time.)

UV lamp for drying manicure gel polish 3 W

A little later I bought a 36 W lamp, the difference is very noticeable. Drying time is reduced, and the coating itself is much stronger. I ordered a 36 W lamp on Aliexpress for 750 rubles... Oddly enough, the old 3 W lamp was more expensive - 900 rubles, but it was bought in a Russian online store, like all the other manicure products from this article (store - nogtishop). Recently I also order gel polishes on Ali, it also comes out much cheaper (within 70 - 100 rubles for one bottle), and the quality is no worse. For comparison, the varnishes presented here were bought for 260 - 280 rubles (now they have become a little cheaper). On Ali, you can order files and orange sticks. To compare prices, below I published a screen with my order in Nogtishop. I repeat, now nail polish has become cheaper. For fun, go to Ali, compare prices.

My order of tools and products for manicure with gel polish A 36 W lamp with a timer, ordered on Ali for 750 rubles.

Step 3. The next step is to apply color gel polish. The first layer of shellac should be thin. It should be applied very gently, without touching the skin. If nail polish gets on your skin, remove it with an orange stick. You do not need to paint over the inner side of the nail with colored varnish. Then place your hand under a 36 W lamp for 4-5 minutes.

Step 4. Next, apply a second color coat. It may be slightly thicker than the first. The second layer will make the color more saturated and vivid. After applying it, also cure the manicure under ultraviolet light for 5 minutes.

Step 5. Now cover your nails with fixative. It is thanks to this top-end product that the nail polish lasts for a long time and firmly + acquires a beautiful glossy shade. Thoroughly paint over the nail plate with it, "sealing" the manicure from the inside of the nail. It is advisable to apply two layers of the top, drying each of them in a lamp, in which case the manicure will last for a very long time. Dry each layer of the top under the lamp for 2-3 minutes.

Step 6. The final step is to remove the sticky layer from the nails using a degreaser. If not, you can use rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover.

Step 7. As a final touch, indulge your fingers with cuticle oil. Apply it to the skin at the base of your nail and rub in.

To make the gel manicure last longer, remove the excess gel polish protruding from the sides of the nail using an ordinary metal file.

How to remove gel polish at home

To remove shellac, you will need the following:

Divide the cotton pads into two halves, fold each of them in half and cut. Apply liquid to the resulting triangles, attach the discs to your nails and wrap them tightly with foil. The foil is necessary so that the solution does not evaporate.

After about a quarter of an hour, take off all this uniform and remove the remaining gel polish with an orange stick.

If the coating does not come off well, repeat the procedure with the foil again. Minor shellac residues can be removed with a polishing file.

Gel polish: design (options for manicure with shellac)

We have studied the technology of applying and removing shellac. J Now let's look at the design options for gel polish. So, for example, the easiest option is to decorate your nails with rhinestones or stickers. A more intricate manicure will turn out if you supply it, or.

Gel polish without decor - a universal option and color

Don't forget about the drawings. So, traditional or will look very advantageous. Or you can try to paint flowers, hearts and other patterns on your nails.

I googled a little, and here are some entertaining photos with shellac design I found:

You can find even more ideas with the design of gel polish in the section manicure .

The hands of a real woman should look well-groomed, otherwise they are not hands, but the paws of Chuuya from Star Wars, and the owner of neglected nails from a mystery girl turns into a slut from a job that is used to washing with her hands, which does not cause any sexual interest.

Therefore, you should not be lazy and look for excuses for yourself, you need to learn to be beautiful and natural. For starters, you can at least paint on your nails. The manicure procedure takes about an hour, even with the use of gel polish at home, everything will take two hours.

Already two hours a week or two can be devoted to your nails, because they signal the whole world about the attitude of a woman to her beloved. And the world doesn't need to know that a girl walks around disheveled at home, cooks only in the presence of a man and often forgets to wash off her makeup before going to bed - in short, that she doesn't love herself very much ...

How to properly cover your nails with gel polish at home

What tools and accessories do we need?

Before starting the procedure, you should make sure that all manicure tools and accessories are present or an equivalent replacement has been found. What materials are unambiguously needed and which ones can be neglected? To make a manicure, you need everything from this list (you can put the missing, and the excess can be postponed):

If all the manicure products are ready, you can start the application procedure itself. Below it is considered in stages. The sequence of application must not be disrupted.

Procedure steps step by step

Training

Prepare your nails before applying gel polish or first. It is necessary to carefully clean them from the previous coating, cut off the cuticles at the edges, correct the free edge and be sure to disinfect the nail plate!

Disinfection is the prevention of fungal diseases under varnish, as it removes fat, excess moisture and bacteria from the nail. Also, the disinfectant simply cleans the nail of dust and dirt so that the shellac lays down better.

As disinfectants, you can use professional preparations that come in sets with gel polish, but ordinary alcohol is suitable for a manicure at home. Moreover, it is pure alcohol, not vodka, not perfume or lotion! It's just that there are too many additional components in these products that prevent the varnish from fixing on the plates and can erase it. Plus, alcohol has a long period of activity and works even under shellac.

Before starting the procedure, you must once again make sure that the nail is cleaned from the previous varnish. To remove the cuticles, you must use a special tool or oil, but you cannot steam the nails, as they can delaminate.

In fact, when preparing as a basis, you should do the usual soft hygienic manicure, but do not immediately apply varnish. Moreover, you can not shorten the nail too much, shellac usually strengthens the nail plate, but everything must be sanded, otherwise the gel base will lie unevenly. Polish the nails with a buff, holding it along the nail plate. Removing the top keratin layer of the nail helps the shellac better adhere to the plate. You will have to remove it, although it seems that it does a lot of harm to the nail, but it is not. Then the nail is degreased and a primer is applied.

As a little trick, you can protect your hands from the harmful effects of shellac by applying regular sunscreen or baby cream. Otherwise, the action of ultraviolet radiation can dry it out ahead of time.

Base coat application

A transparent shellac base is needed for better adhesion of the product to the nail plate. The weaker the nails, the worse the varnish will adhere to them, therefore they are strengthened with a base layer. You cannot save on the shellac base even at home, since a bad base will ruin the whole manicure. The base shellac must be applied carefully and evenly on the nails with a thin layer and started to dry in a UV lamp, then repeat the painting again, and applied immediately after the base of the top.

Top coat application

The top shellac coating is also called the finish coat, since it secures the entire coating. It is done at the very end on fully prepared and processed nails. The brightness of the color and the accuracy of the nails depend on the correct coating.

Immediately after application, you should use a dryer, and after two minutes, you should evenly lubricate the area around the nails with hand or lip balm so that the skin does not dry out and crack.

If you follow the classic concepts of gel polish, then nothing is glued or applied to the top. Exceptions can be large elements, for example, rhinestones, but if possible, you should avoid this, since a manicure or pedicure will look untidy due to such sealing. This is one of the many secrets of manicure.

The final stage

After correct application of the top and drying in a UV lamp, blot the nails with a tissue with liquid to remove liquid. After that, hands are smeared with cuticle moisturizer and the shellac procedure is considered complete.

Differences between primer, bondex, and cleanser from each other

Shellac terminology is full of unfamiliar words, the meaning of which a novice manicure master can only guess. At least some of them should be considered. Below is a step-by-step comparison of the three key agents in shellac.

  • Primer It is used to prepare the nail for adhesion, but it does not adhere anything itself, but only removes everything unnecessary on the plate. It can be compared to priming the walls under the wallpaper. It restores the pH of the nail plate, cleans everything so that the product lays down as correctly and firmly as possible. The degreasing primer does not require additional drying under an ultraviolet lamp.
  • Bondex- a gel-like substance used to increase the adhesion between the nail plate and shellac. Thanks to this tool, the nails do not flake off, and the artificial material stays on the nail plate for as long as possible. Its action can be compared to double-sided tape, when it tightens both the nail and shellac. Bondex should not be applied to the skin and cuticles, if the drug gets on the fingers, they should be rinsed with running water. These two products (bondex and primer) are often confused.
  • Klinser- water-alcohol solution with fragrances and oils. It removes the sticky layer at the very end of the gel nail polish at home, the fixer, although it can replace the primer if necessary, since it is a good antiseptic.

These three different manicure products are a must have for any woman who cares for her nails, rather than mindlessly trying to build them up. If possible, you should purchase them of the same brand, for example, Ingarden, Bluesky, so that there is no chemical incompatibility and deterioration of the adhesion. Proper care guarantees healthy nails and beautiful shellac appearance.

How to make drawings on nails with gel polish?

Nail art is a type of manicure, in which, in addition to the standard classical processing of nails, various patterns are also reproduced on them according to the method. Shellac quickly gives freedom to decor, so there are whole directions of nail design, when images are applied on an already finished coating. Absolutely unimaginable pictures can be made on nails, it all depends on the master's imagination, but one must understand that individual bright patterns will look more impressive on long nails, and their use on short ones is unacceptable. Examples are shown below.

Techniques for drawing on nails.

There are a lot of techniques for painting with gel varnish professionally, but at home only a few of them can be used:

  • painting technique with a thin brush;
  • dots decoration technique (with a special tool with a small ball at the end);
  • the technique of point manicure (somewhat reminiscent of children's drawing on points with the described sequence);
  • “wet” technique: the varnish moves freely on the nail plate with a toothpick or needle;
  • manicure technique with a liner.

Before starting to use any of the techniques, you should observe the master and his manicure sequence. If it is not possible to go to the salon, the necessary tips can be gleaned from the videos on manicure lessons on the network. But to gain experience, you still need to work and work on yourself.

Rose gel polish: step by step instructions

Rose gel polish is one of the simplest drawings, so it can be reproduced even by beginners. The entire procedure from scratch can be broken down into several stages.

First you need to choose the right colors. Most often, white is chosen for the background and red and green for the flower, but this is not necessary. You can play with the color scheme and choose something unusual. For example, on a matte natural beige tone, a glossy rose is slightly visible. Or paint the nail with black varnish, and make the rose itself from rhinestones. It all depends on personal preferences and the range of clothing. A colored matte manicure with a large abundance of small roses looks very beautiful.
Then the nails are covered with the main color, and all at once, and not one by one, are dried in a UV lamp, this gives additional durability. The dryer allows you to seal the color for a long time.

When the varnish has dried, on the nail with the tip of a needle, you need to make several points with the flowers you like and connect them to the image of a rose.

Butterfly gel polish

A butterfly is a versatile design, as it is suitable for both short and long nails. It looks most effective on classic French manicure or just white nails, when the insect's wings contrast with the background.

You can paint a butterfly yourself using a liner or a brush, or you can just buy a sticker and attach it to your nail. It won't work with a rose. And this is an indisputable plus of the butterfly.

If, nevertheless, there is a desire to make the drawing myself, then it should be applied to a good ready-made base. First, the outline of the insect is drawn, and then the wings and body of the butterfly are filled with color. If desired, the drawing can be left as contour. But learning how to apply color inside the contour is simply necessary.

Shellac skull

Sometimes you want to step away from something cute and decorate your nails, for example, with a skull. At the same time, the application technology will differ little from the same butterfly, this is also an easy manicure, only the insides of the skull can be painted with shiny varnish or rhinestones. It looks impressive! But manicure ideas don't end there.

Hieroglyph shellac

The easiest way to draw hieroglyphs is that only two colors are used here. Usually black and white varnishes are chosen, but you can try a combination of black and red, blue and white, or yellow and green. But here the most important thing is not to miss the meaning of the symbol. Hieroglyphs are in vogue, but you shouldn't wear meaningless lines or descriptions of public toilets on your hands, this is one of the mistakes beginners make when designing nails.

Pirate theme

Gel polish can be used to coat your nails with Jack Sparrow's profile, the outlines of his Black Pearl and a pirate wheel. Of course, such a drawing will take a lot of time, but the result will be a stylish, unique drawing, and not a typical nail painting!

Shellac letters

You can also write your name on the manicure. Conveniently, if your name is Alexandra or Constance, you get one letter per finger. Others will have to come up with an arrangement of letters from the name and surname of relatives and children, but these are the subtleties of nail coverage. In general, gel polish at home gives a huge flight of imagination, if you remember the rules for applying! The main drawing mistakes: it is better to use the alphabet in which there are most letters in the name. Latin or Cyrillic are chosen according to their own preferences, otherwise then you will want to quickly wash everything off.

French gel polish: step by step photo guide

It is better to consider this technology of manicure and the next one using the example of drawings, where better training is given to coatings. Since they are no different from ordinary manicure at home, they are simply made using gel polish.

Ombre gel polish step by step at home

The ombre gradient manicure method looks simple in pictures, but you should not start it self-taught without practicing on other options, for example, roses. Ombre manicure is characterized by a smooth transition from a bright and shiny to a matte pale shade of the same color, but only a professional can draw all the stages of coverage with high quality.

And some more facts about shellac.

  1. Shellac is a resin secreted by some insects in Asia. Then this resin is bought and used as a key component of the gel polish. None of the mechanical appliances make shellac.
  2. Gel polish promotes the growth of their own nails, if desired, they can be built up under such a shell.
  3. Thanks to a special coating technology, shellac protects the plates from scratches and traumatic damage.

This tool has a natural basis, and therefore is harmless to the body and has nothing to do with destructive extended nails. With shellac, permanent nail correction is not required.

Most often, a similar procedure can be done in beauty salons, or at home with a specialist. We will show you how to apply gel polish yourself at home.

Currently, gel polish is highly popular and when performing a manicure, the choice falls on it. This is due to the fact that the coating can stay on the nails for a long time, up to 2 weeks, and it also makes the nail plate noticeably stronger. Most often, a similar procedure can be done in beauty salons, or at home with a specialist, but today on the site we will show you how to apply the coating yourself at home. Our tips will help you understand the technology for using gel polishes for beginners.

Required tools

The fact that most often a manicure is performed by specialists is largely due to the fact that you need to have special tools to cover nails with gel polish. But if you stock up on them for your own use, you can secure yourself a beautiful manicure for a long time.

You must have:

  1. LED lamp or UV lamp- it is a mandatory attribute, since with the help of it the gel polish solidifies. It affects the varnish with special ultraviolet radiation and is completely safe for health.
  2. Base- an indispensable tool that provides protection of the surface of the nails and better adhesion of colored varnish.
  3. Top- applied at the end, provides a strengthening of the coating and prolongs the duration. The top comes in glossy and matte.
  4. Themselves gel polishes of various colors, to your taste and color.
  5. Degreaser- a special agent that allows you to clean and degrease the surface of the plate, thereby providing a stronger adhesion to the varnish.
  6. Nail Treatment Tools: nail files, buffs, tweezers, tweezers, pusher, lint-free napkins (it is better to avoid using cotton pads, as they leave debris on the coating).
  7. Decor: sequins, stickers on nails, rhinestones.
  8. For beginners, especially for independent use, for the first time it is better not to take very expensive funds. It is better to purchase at an average price and in small quantities, and in subsequent times already choose based on experience.

Step-by-step application instructions

In order to perform a high-quality manicure and not forget anything, you need to properly prepare your workplace. First of all, free up enough space on the table, provide it with lighting and put all the necessary tools in front of you so that you do not have to look for them in the process.

Before directly applying the gel polish, you need to prepare your nails well:

  1. The remnants of the previous manicure are carefully removed, removing even the smallest dots.
  2. Next, you need to do a regular manicure, cut off the burrs, remove the cuticle, correct the shape of the nail and file the edge from irregularities.
  3. With a buff, you need to walk over the entire surface of the nail plate.
  4. Nails are degreased with a special tool.

After the preparation stage, you can proceed to covering the nails:

Removing the coating from the nail plate

When the nails have grown enough and the manicure does not look aesthetically pleasing, the coating must be removed from the nails. In order to remove it correctly, it is not enough just to rub your nails with a cotton pad dipped in a special liquid. This is done in a slightly different way:

  1. With a file, you can walk along the upper glossy layer, cutting off the shiny surface, especially the end.
  2. Cotton pads need to be cut into 4 parts, apply a remover to each.
  3. Moistened pieces of discs are applied to each nail, and on top are well fixed with foil.
  4. After 10 - 15 minutes, the foil can be removed from the fingers, the varnish should swell and peel off the nail on its own. If a small amount remains, then it can be carefully removed with a wooden stick (pusher). Do not use metal tools for these purposes, otherwise you can damage the nail plate itself.

If, during removal, the gel polish has time to harden in the air, then you need to repeat the procedure.

In order for the manicure to last as long as possible on the nails and look beautiful, you need to adhere to a few tips that will allow you to avoid mistakes:

  • before work, it is better not to do nail baths, less than two hours before a manicure;
  • if there is not enough experience, then you should not work with all nails at once, it is better to paint 1-2 nails in turn;
  • during the day, it is better to avoid strong contact with water, especially when it comes to washing floors, visiting the pool;
  • do not apply a thick layer, remove excess product with a brush.

Manicure Ideas

When working, you can also give free rein to imagination and make various patterns on the nails.

A few of the simplest nail design ideas that you can do yourself at home:

  1. Using multiple colors- now it has become fashionable when nails are painted in different shades, when only one or even a combination of colors on one finger stands out. In addition, you can use a thin brush and paint on your nails with it.
  2. Decoration with rhinestones or stones- monochromatic or colored manicure can be decorated with various pebbles, in the same way, highlighting only one nail, or used on each finger. Decorations need to be applied to the last, still sticky layer of gel polish, you can use special glue, and then dry in a lamp. And after that, secure with a layer of top.
  3. Loose sequins- you can decorate the entire surface of the nail with such a shiny powder, or apply a drawing with a thin brush until the varnish is dry, pour glitter on it, which will stick to it. And then secure the entire drawing with a top.
  4. Various pictures or shiny ribbons- the principle is the same, on the sticky top layer you need to place the sticker you like, and then apply the top and fix it under the lamp.

Have you tried gel polish manicure? Be sure to share your experiences and ideas in the comments!

Gel manicure design is a way of self-expression and decoration of women's hands. To save money on regular visits to the masters, you can learn how to beautifully design your nails yourself. Beginners need to know what material to choose, how to create beautiful drawings and what is the difference between a gel and a simple varnish.

Nail gels vary in purpose. Among them there are means for lengthening the nail plate, as well as strengthening biogels that help prevent delamination. The purpose of gel polish is similar to ordinary nail polish - it is used to decorate nails.

The main differences between a gel and a simple varnish can be seen in the table:

Distinctive features Gel polish

Plain varnish

ApplicationPreliminary preparation of the nail plate is required (cutting, degreasing, application of the base).Before starting, you just need to degrease your nails.
DryingIt dries only under a special lamp for 2-3 minutes.Dries in the air for 5-10 minutes.
Wear periodThe manicure stays beautiful for about 3 weeks.Nails look messy after 2-4 days.
WithdrawalDissolves with a special liquid in 15 minutes.Easy to wipe off with a cotton pad soaked in nail polish remover.

Another distinguishing feature of gel and regular varnish is cost. Gel polish is more expensive. And since the application procedure requires certain skills, then they also pay separately for the services of the master.

Composition of gel polish

Gel polish contains molecules that react and turn into a polymer, that is, they harden. They are called monomers and oligomers. The composition contains special photoinitiators. These are particles that actively absorb UV radiation and help the gel polish to harden.

Also, the gel contains the following substances:

  • solvents;
  • coloring pigments;
  • fragrances;
  • formaldehyde;
  • methylisothiazolinone;
  • dibutyl phthalate;
  • toluene.

The last 4 substances on the list are considered toxic in large quantities and can cause allergies. In gel polish, their concentration is so low that it does not pose a health hazard.

Which gel polish should you choose?

For newbies creating nail designs, it is important to choose the right gel polish. It is necessary to pay attention to the hypoallergenicity of the product and its persistence. These parameters are indicated on the packaging. There are several popular manufacturers that have earned the trust of experienced nail artists.

Scroll:

  • Shellac CND.
  • Entity.
  • Kodi Professional.

These gel polishes are well applied, have high resistance, and are easy to remove. The color palette of each brand allows you to create any design. For a high-quality manicure, it is important to choose the right gel and choose good base and top coatings. It is recommended to buy products of the same brand as the gel polish.

How to choose a UV lamp for drying gel polish at home

Lamps for drying gel polish vary in wattage, as well as in the type of light emitters installed inside. Ultraviolet lamps dry not only gel polish, but also other building products. For home use, 36 W models are suitable. Such devices have 2 drawbacks. Bulbs quickly burn out and need to be replaced with identical ones.

Other lamps will not work. UV radiation has a negative effect on the skin of the hands. After drying, you must use moisturizing oils and special creams. There are LED lamps that do not negatively affect the skin and dry the gel coating faster than ultraviolet. Bulbs in such devices serve for a very long time, and energy consumption is halved.

For home use, devices with a power of 6 watts are suitable. The disadvantage of such dryers is the high price.

There are hybrid bulbs that have both types of bulbs. They reduce the drying time of the coating from 2-3 minutes to 30 seconds. Their power is enough for drying any design, as well as for building gel.

For home use, it is recommended to purchase small-sized devices with low power. They are inexpensive and dry properly. Large and powerful lamps are needed for salons with a large flow of customers. With a large appliance, you can dry both hands at the same time, thus saving time.

How to draw?

Nail design for beginners will not cause any particular difficulties. The main thing is to find the right tools and learn how to use them. To create beautiful patterns on the nails, masters use special devices, which are discussed later in the article.

Brushes

To create unique designs, you will need to purchase a set of manicure brushes. Each of them is designed to create specific patterns. You can make a jacket thin and apply stripes. Fluffy brushes are used to create various effects, such as ombre or graffiti.

Dots

It is an instrument with a metal tip that has a small ball. It is used to apply even, round dots or peas. The shape of the tip allows you to collect a small amount of varnish and gently distribute it over the nail.

Needles

Thin needles are used to create neat lines. Usually, drawings are made from 1 or several small drops of varnish, smearing them in the desired direction. This produces a very unusual effect.

Pieces of tulle

The tulle can be used as a stamp. A small piece is soaked in gel and gently applied to the nail.

Press the tulle to the plate for 2-3 seconds and carefully remove it. The result is a beautiful "lace" design.

Foil

Unusual patterns are created from foil by gluing small pieces onto a plate immediately after drying. Then the design is fixed by applying a base coat. You can use regular foil or special shiny nail film. There are foil threads and narrow ribbons, which are similarly used in manicure.

Sponge

With the help of a small piece of foam sponge, you can achieve a smooth transition from one color of varnish to another. These effects are called gradient or ombre.

Sliders

These are stickers, the pattern from which can be transferred to the nail plate by moistening the picture with water. Sliders can cover the entire nail or a small part. You can cut different pictures and combine them with each other. After drawing the pattern, it must be fixed with a base.

Powders

Special powders are used both to cover the entire nail and to create beautiful volumetric patterns. Powders can be shiny, rub in, or give the coating a velvety surface.

Training cards, stencils

Practice cards are printed stencils on which you can practice accurately applying patterns. The training system resembles a school recipe. There is a pattern on the card that needs to be repeated. First, the picture is outlined along the outlined lines, and then they try to draw it on their own. Nail design for beginners with drawings can be difficult to perform.

If you can't draw patterns by hand yet, you can use special stencils. This method of drawing a picture is called stamping. The pattern is engraved on the metal plate.

The varnish is applied to the plate and spread evenly with a plastic spatula. A special rubber sponge is pressed against the plate and then against the nail. The drawing is transferred to the nails as a stamp. It remains to dry it and secure with a final coat.

Gel manicure step by step for beginners

Regardless of the design, gel manicure must be performed strictly following the sequence of actions. Before applying the gel, it is important to prepare each nail, apply a base coat. Then correctly distribute the colored varnish and fix it well with a top. Below is a step-by-step description of each of these steps.

Base coat application

Before applying the base, you need to process the nail:

  1. The plate is given the correct shape and the cuticle is gently pushed back or cut off.
  2. A thin layer is removed from the nail using a coarse-grained buff. It is necessary to give the plate a matte surface. You cannot press the buff strongly, otherwise you can injure the nail.
  3. Dust is swept away with a brush and the plate is degreased with a special tool.
  4. If your nails are thin and bend easily, then you need to apply a primer.
  5. The base coat is applied in a thin layer from the edge of the nail to its root, and then from the cuticle towards the edge.
  6. The coating must be dried in a lamp.

Gel polish nail designs for beginners begin with applying a base, as in the photo.

In UV lamps, the drying time takes 1 minute, and in LED lamps, 10-15 seconds.

Applying gel polish

Colored varnish is applied in 1 layer to obtain a translucent coloration.

For a rich color, you need to apply 2-3 layers:

  1. The application starts from the middle of the nail at the bottom, moving smoothly upward.
  2. When painting on the sides of the plate, it is important to ensure that the gel covers the surface completely, without gaps.
  3. Each layer of gel polish must be dried in turn for a minute. In the LED device - 30 sec.

Special attention should be paid to the last point. If you do not dry the layers, but apply more varnish, then the coating will swell or crack.

Top application

A topcoat is necessary for a reliable fixation of the result:

  1. The top is also applied as a colored varnish. The layer should be slightly thicker.
  2. The ends of the nails should be completely sealed.
  3. The coating is dried for 2-3 minutes. In LED lamp 30 sec.

Top coat gives nails strength and shine. To achieve a matte effect, you can purchase a special finish or use a colorless powder.

Simple and beautiful nail gel polish design for beginners

Nail design for beginners should be easy to complete. You can learn how to create simple patterns, which are the basis for creating more complex patterns. Below are descriptions of the most popular nail design options.

Dot patterns

The dots can cover the entire surface of the nail or gather in a specific pattern.

Patterns are applied with dots on a dried base or already on a colored layer:

  1. A suitable shade of varnish for dots is selected for the main color of the nail.
  2. The tool is allowed into the open bottle, having previously processed it with a degreaser.
  3. To get a big point. You need to drown the entire tip in the gel. To create a shallow point, just touch the varnish with a ball at the end.
  4. Dots are pressed to the nail for 1-2 seconds, the varnish flows down, forming a perfectly round spot.
  5. The pattern is dried in a lamp for 1-2 minutes.

To set even dots. Need to practice on plastic tips or training cards.

Hearts with a toothpick

You can draw mini-hearts on your nails without using brushes:

  1. On the dried base with the help of dots, 2 drops of gel are placed, placing them on the same level, close to each other.
  2. With a toothpick, you need to carefully connect the drops in the middle, leaving two round tops.
  3. You need to stretch a little to the bottom of the drop to get the end of the heart.

The drawing must be dried in a lamp and secured with a top.

Drawings through stencils

The use of stamping is considered one of the simplest design options:

  1. A pattern is selected on a plate with drawings and filled with gel polish.
  2. Using a plastic spatula, remove the excess from the plate.
  3. The silicone stamp is pressed tightly against the pattern, and then the pattern is transferred to the nail.
  4. Dry the layer in the lamp.

It is important to work with the stamp carefully, not allowing it to slide off either the plate or the nail. Otherwise, the drawing will be smudged.

Abstraction

The most popular type of abstraction on nails is brush strokes:

  1. On the dried base, apply small strokes in different directions using a flat brush.
  2. If you are planning a drawing of several colors. Then the smears of each color are dried separately.

Abstraction can be done with foil, stamping and self-adhesive strips.

Stickers

  4. Place a drop of water on the sticker and press down gently.
  5. Remove the slider after 1 min.
  6. Secure the design with a top coat and dry.

There are non-translatable sliders. They are simply placed on a plate and secured with a top.

Nail art geometry using scotch tape

Geometric patterns are easy to create using tape:

  1. The adhesive tape is cut into strips or other shapes.
  2. Pieces of scotch tape are glued to the dried 1 layer and the nail is varnished.
  3. Use tweezers to remove the tape and dry the coating in a lamp.

If the varnish applied over the tape is liquid, then it is recommended to dry the nail for 15 seconds and remove the tape.

Broken glass

This effect is obtained using foil:

  1. The material is cut into small pieces.
  2. Lay "glass" on the dried base.
  3. Cover the plate with a top coat.

Already cut pieces are sold to create this effect.

Painted watermelon brush

  3. The border between red and green is underlined with a thin white line.
  4. Dots that simulate seeds are added with black gel.
  5. Dry the layer and fix the pattern with a top coat.

You can use only green in 2 shades and draw stripes like on a watermelon rind.

The gradient can be done with a foam sponge:

  1. A light gel polish is applied and dried as a base.
  2. Apply 2 gel colors to the sponge.
  3. The colors are transferred to the nails with dabbing movements.
  4. The colored layer is dried and then the base is applied.

It is important to choose matching colors.

Ornate patterns are called so. They are applied using thin brushes. Before creating such a design, you need to practice on stencils.

French

Flowers

To draw a simple flower, you need dots and 2 colors of gel polish:

  1. With dots, a central drop is applied to a dry base. This will be the middle of the flower.
  2. Having cleaned the instrument, it is dipped in a different color and several drops are placed around the first at the same distance.

The flower petals can be left round or stretched out to the sides with a needle.

Decoration

You can decorate a gel manicure in different ways. It all depends on the skills and imagination of the master. The easiest ways to make your nails look beautiful are described below.

Rhinestones

The rhinestones are placed with tweezers on a damp base coat. You need to gently press the decoration to the nail for 1-2 seconds.

And then dry in a lamp. It is important to use only special rhinestones for nails so that they do not deform during drying.

Acrylic powder or sand

With the help of powder and sand, you can give the surface a rough look, or vice versa, add shine. Depending on the desired effect, the base is applied on top or underneath the jewelry.

Sequined

Sequins are small and large. The smallest glitter looks like a powder. It is called rubbing. They are applied with a brush to a dried base. It turns out an interesting mirror surface, which is additionally fixed with a top. Large gloss is placed on the nail with tweezers.

Openwork

There are 3 ways to achieve an "openwork" effect. You can use tulle, stamping or sliders. Everything except the sliders must first be dried and then covered with a final layer.

Removing gel polish

Gel polish takes longer to remove than usual.

This procedure will require a special liquid, foil with sponges and 15 minutes:

  1. The sponges are soaked in nail polish remover and applied to the nails.
  2. The fingers are wrapped in foil so that the liquid does not evaporate.
  3. After 15 minutes, the foil is removed from 1 finger and the varnish is scraped off with a wooden spatula.

It is important to remove the foil just before removing the varnish. If you remove it from all fingers at once, then during cleaning one, the rest of the varnish may harden.

If you don't know how to apply gel polish at home and how to make the perfect creative manicure, then this article is for you! Learn how to decorate your nails and get the perfect manicure that won't leave you for weeks!

A bit of theory

What is the secret of the popularity of gel polish, or, as it is also called, shellac? It's very simple: if an ordinary varnish can fail at any time, then the helium coating will last at least two weeks. And this is very important, because every girl knows how much annoyance peeling varnish can cause and how sloppy manicure spoils a carefully thought-out image.

Gel polish is a hybrid of the usual nail polish and gel for nail extension. That is, in fact, you apply a thin layer of pigmented gel to your nails, which hardens under the rays of an ultraviolet lamp and adheres firmly to the nail plate. As a result, you get a perfect manicure, the main advantage of which is its exceptional durability.

The gel polish contains polymer molecules that change their structure under UV rays, turning into an ultra-strong film. True, in order to get a truly durable coating, you will have to try a little: the application of shellac has a number of nuances that distinguish it from ordinary nail polish. You will learn about all the intricacies of helium manicure if you decide to finish reading this article.

Advice! Never apply shellac or any other coating to fungus-infected nails! Of course, it is tempting to hide the defects of the nail plates, and gel polish allows you to do this. However, under the cover, microorganisms will multiply even faster. First you need to get rid of the infection, and only then start thinking about the beauty of your nails!

What do you need?

Before starting the manicure ritual, you should stock up on everything you need, because you need to apply the gel polish at home correctly. So, in order to apply shellac, you will need:

  • your usual manicure accessories: nail file, cuticle tweezers, pushers, etc. With their help you will do the so-called hygienic manicure to prepare the nails for shellac application;

  • soft buff for polishing nails. Shellac fits well on rough nails, which means you have to rub them with the rough side of your buff;
  • UV lamp... There are a huge number of lamps in stores: there are both quite expensive and budget options. You will learn how to choose a lamp later;
  • base coat and top coat. You can buy them in shops selling everything you need for beauty salons;

  • myself shellac;
  • a product that removes grease marks from the nail plates. If you don't have a special product, you can use any alcohol-based lotion, oil-free nail polish remover, or even vodka;
  • orange tree sticks... With them, you will process the cuticles and remove traces of shellac from the skin if you make a mistake at the time of application.

Orange tree sticks - with them you will process the cuticle and remove traces of shellac from the skin if you make a mistake at the time of application

Advice! There are products that combine the functions of a top coat and a base coat. If you want to save money, try to find such an option.

Preparing nails

You should start by preparing nails for applying gel polish. First, you need to process the cuticle and give the nail plates a beautiful shape. If you prefer a trim manicure and pre-steam your hands in a bath, let your nails dry. Otherwise, due to moisture particles, the coating will not adhere well to the nail plates and all efforts will not bring the desired result.

Try to push the cuticle as far as possible (while being careful not to injure your skin, of course). Gel polish lasts quite a long time, so over time, the growing nail plate will begin to spoil the look of your hands. To avoid this, you should go as deep as possible and "open" your nails as much as possible.

Advice! Shellac makes it possible to grow long nails: it protects the plates from damage and seems to reinforce them, as a result of which they break less. Therefore, if you have fragile nails that break at the slightest impact, then shellac will suit you just perfect!

The most crucial moment

If you decide to learn how to apply gel polish at home, you should not forget about the importance of creating a so-called base coat, which will improve the adhesion of the coating to the nail plates and allow the varnish to last for a really long time. First, treat your nails with a buff. The nails should be matte. The main thing is not to overdo it and not to erase the plates too much. You do not want to thin your nails, but give them a certain structure.

Try to treat your nails on all sides, lightly buff on their top edge and sides. If you do not do this, the coating will quickly begin to chip off and ugly bubbles will appear on it!

Now, apply some degreaser to a lint-free wipe and wipe down your nails. They should not have fatty marks that prevent the coating from adhering to the nail plates. If, after you have processed your nails, you accidentally touch your face, do not be too lazy to use the degreasing compound again.

Advice! When treating nails with a grease remover, it is very important to use not ordinary cotton pads, but special lint-free wipes. Otherwise, microscopic fibers will remain on the surface to be treated, which will not allow shellac to lie in an even, beautiful layer.

Base application

So, now you are ready to start applying the gel polish step by step at home. You need to do this as follows:

  • Take the product onto the brush, apply a drop of base coat and spread it in a thin, even layer. Do not forget to process the free edge of the nail plate, otherwise the shellac may begin to chip off;

  • place your nails under an ultraviolet lamp for 30–45 seconds. The time depends on the power of your lamp: naturally, the more powerful the device, the shorter the exposure time should be;

  • Treat your nails with an alcohol-based product or the liquid you usually use to remove varnish from your nails. This must be done in order to remove the so-called sticky layer. By the way, many masters do not remove the sticky layer, so you can completely ignore this step.

Advice! You can stop at this stage. For example, if you want your nails to have a clear coat perfect for the office, you can only apply a base coat to them.

Apply gel polish

Now you need to apply a colored finish. This should be done according to the same algorithm by which you applied the base coat. Cover all your nails with gel polish, then dry them in a UV lamp.

It is important to remember some tricks:

  • you should not try to apply shellac in a thick layer. Many girls, trying to achieve a bright, saturated color as quickly as possible, are typing too much product on the brush. This should not be done: bubbles may appear on the coating, besides, the lower layers of shellac will not be able to polymerize, as a result of which the shellac will last as long as ordinary varnish;

  • take your time: shellac does not dry out in the air, so you can safely remove all the flaws using a cotton swab;
  • at this stage, you can use various decorative elements, such as rhinestones or sliders. You can fix the decor on top of the sticky layer. By the way, you will learn about ways to make a manicure with gel polish more interesting from the following sections.

Advice! For more precise application, do not use a brush from a bottle of varnish, but a thin synthetic brush. This will allow you to get a neat manicure that looks like it was done by an experienced nail technician.

Completion of work

The manicure is almost ready. Now you just have to apply a top coat over the gel polish and wait until it hardens in the gel lamp. Remember to remove the sticky layer.

Finally, be sure to treat the cuticle with nourishing oil. This is to soften the skin, thus prolonging the beauty of your manicure.

By the way, if you go with shellac, regularly moisturize and nourish the cuticles with special products. Thanks to this, you can avoid doing a hygienic manicure for a long time.

Advice! It is advisable not to walk with gel polish all the time, but from time to time give your nails a rest for two to three weeks. To restore your nails, you can use special strengthening products that include a mineral complex and proteins.

How to decorate your nails: decor options

You can of course do a solid color. However, why not show your imagination and create real masterpieces on your pens? To make your manicure more interesting, you may find it useful:

  • sliders: Thin sheets of paper with pictures printed on them. The slider is applied under the topcoat. On sale you can find hundreds of options for sliders with any patterns: from geometric patterns to superheroes. The slider can be used to decorate one finger or apply drawings to all nails;

  • foil for manicure... This is a special transfer foil. It is sold in small rolls. This foil allows you to create a mirror or holographic manicure. The foil is applied very simply: without erasing the sticky layer, press the nail against the foil sheet. It is imperative to apply a topcoat on top of the foil;

  • rhinestones... Rhinestones are very easy to stick to the sticky layer. By the way, nails decorated with several large rhinestones are in fashion now. True, such a manicure is suitable for a holiday, and not for everyday wear;

  • broth... This decoration has nothing to do with broth. Broths are small beads that can be glued to your nail plates. As a result, you will get an unusual manicure, which is called caviar.

Advice!Do not overdo it and try to decorate your nails in every possible way. However, you can easily combine decoration options. For example, apply broth on one nail, and decorate the other with a slider to match. In this case, no one will reproach you for the lack of good taste.
