Why does my back get acne and how to get rid of it?

Having decent experience in the field of dermatology, I would like to talk a little about such an ailment as acne on the back. This problem can concern a person of any age and gender. And before you start fighting it, you need to determine the cause of its occurrence.

Many people wonder why their back is covered with acne; the reasons for this phenomenon are not clear to them. I will try to explain clearly.

Causes of acne on the back

The causes that lead to rashes on the back are divided into two types: external and internal. External sources include:

  • Clothes that contain a large percentage of synthetics. It does not allow air to pass through and does not allow the skin to “breathe” freely, which creates a fertile environment for the spread of bacteria.
  • Body cosmetics or shower products of dubious quality or made from unnatural products can also contribute to the formation of acne on the back.
  • Consumption of large amounts of fatty, sweet foods.
  • Bad habits, such as smoking tobacco products and drinking alcohol, can cause rashes on the back.
  • Nervous situations and periods of prolonged stress have a negative effect on the skin in the form of acne. It’s not for nothing that doctors say that all diseases arise from nervousness.
  • Lack of vitamins in the human body.
  • Exposure to direct sunlight for a long time.

Internal sources include:

  • The period of puberty, when the sebaceous glands work much more actively and faster.
  • Certain endocrine disorders.
  • The period of pregnancy, as well as the presence of gynecological diseases in women.
  • Presence of diseases of the genitourinary system.
  • Gastrointestinal tract disorders.

Only a specialist can make a correct diagnosis and name the exact cause. If acne appears on your back, it is best to immediately consult a dermatologist. Moreover, if acne does not leave your back for a long time, this should be a signal for you.

At this stage, do not try to take any treatment steps on your own. So, as soon as the doctor can correctly determine the cause of the rash and prescribe effective treatment.

But if you still try to solve the problem on your own at the initial stage of acne, then at least adhere to certain rules, which are as follows:

  1. Do not squeeze pimples under any circumstances, as this will not solve the problem, but will only make it worse!
  2. You only need to wear fresh and washed clothes. It is also very important that the composition of the fabrics is natural.
  3. After taking a shower, you should not thoroughly rub your skin; you should lightly blot it with a soft towel.
  4. There should be not one towel, but several - for each part of the body.
  5. The washcloth should be of medium hardness so as not to cause microtrauma to the skin during the washing process.
  6. Time spent in the sun should be reduced to a minimum.
  7. In order to avoid clogging of pores, you need to forget about tanning and massage oils for a while.

Treatment of rash on the back

To achieve a good result, treatment should be slow and measured. The main thing is regularity and compliance with all the recommendations that I give:

  1. Every day it is necessary to lubricate the affected areas of the skin with salicylic acid.
  2. You should take baths with the addition of a decoction of medicinal herbs (chamomile, string, calendula) or with natural sea salt.
  3. You can make masks every three days based on cosmetic clay, preferably green or white. The mask should be washed off with warm water using gentle massage movements.
  4. Wipe your back with calendula decoction.
  5. It is necessary to significantly reduce the amount of fried, sweet, smoked foods in your diet and accordingly increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables.
  6. Try to avoid stressful and conflict situations, protect yourself from hassle and excessive fatigue.
  7. It is necessary to wash clothes and bedding as often as possible, and preferably with powders that do not contain components that can cause allergic reactions.
  8. You should not often touch the damaged areas with your hands, much less comb them. If pimples itch a lot, you need to make a herbal compress to relieve the itching.

As a dermatologist, I would like to note that a rash on the back is quite common and, of course, causes a lot of inconvenience to a person. Therefore, the problem cannot be left to chance, in order to prevent complications. I suggest using folk remedies for treatment, which in my opinion are really effective:

Mask made of cosmetic clay and olive oil

Take two tablespoons of clay, preferably green, and mix it with one tablespoon of olive oil. To this add one egg white. Bring the mixture to a homogeneous mass, after which it can be applied to the skin. Keep this mask on your back for twenty minutes, then rinse with warm water.

Tincture of calendula

Apply directly to each pimple.

Not all types of rash can be treated with folk remedies. If the case is advanced, you will not be able to do without the use of medications. I, as a doctor, have compiled a list of the most effective ointments and gels for my patients, including:

  1. Skinoren gel - use it if you have acne and acne not only on the back, but also on any other parts of the body. Pregnancy is not a contraindication, but in practice allergic reactions to one of the components have been observed.
  2. Levomekol ointment - used in cases of purulent pimples. Should not be used by children under 12 years of age or in case of personal intolerance to the drug.
  3. Zinerit - ointment is used when there are acne and pimples on the skin. Side effects, if observed, are mild in the form of burning or dryness of the epidermis. If the dosage is observed, it can be used by pregnant women and nursing mothers. It is not recommended for use by persons with hypersensitivity to antibiotics and other components contained in the drug.
  4. Baziron - gel is used in case of pimples, comedones (blackheads) and acne. It has many positive properties that help eliminate skin problems. Not recommended for use by children under 12 years of age, allergy sufferers, pregnant or breastfeeding women.

I wrote all the advice and thoughts from a professional point of view. I would like to note that no one is immune from the appearance of such a problem as acne on the back or other parts of the body. However, it should be remembered that the earlier treatment is started, the more effective it will be.

Conclusion

Beware of unscrupulous doctors who unequivocally claim that only visits to him will help solve the problem of back acne. You can and should consult a dermatologist.

But if the acne is not advanced or inflamed, try first to use my tips and recommendations, which have helped many of my patients.

Of course, everyone has a different type of acne and the cause of its occurrence is also different. But generally accepted rules for caring for problem skin and preventive methods are universal.

They must be adhered to in order to prevent certain complications on the skin during the maturation of acne and the consequences after them. Thank you for your attention!
