Tip 1: How to use wax strips correctly

You will need

  • - wax strips;
  • - scrub;
  • - chlorhexidine or Miramistin;
  • - balm or cream after depilation;
  • - body butter or any vegetable oil.

Instructions

Prepare for the procedure in advance. Choose a time - preferably evening or a weekend when you don't have to go anywhere. For a good result, the hair length should be at least 0.5 cm.

Take a hot shower. Hot water will soften the upper layers of the skin and open the pores. It is much easier to extract hairs from steamed skin.

Treat your feet with a scrub. Try to choose as gentle an exfoliant as possible.

Prepare wax strips. Rub the folded strip between your palms for 30-40 seconds to melt the wax. If this happens in winter, then the strip can be heated by placing it on a heating radiator and leaving it for 10-15 seconds. If desired, you can use a hairdryer to warm it up by directing a stream of hot air onto the wax strip.

Unfold the strip and apply it to the prepared skin of the area that needs treatment. Leave the edge of the strip free so that it is easy to remove the strip later. Carefully, using light pressure, smooth the surface of the strip over the skin, moving in the direction of hair growth.

Hold the skin, as if slightly stretching it in the area where the strip is located. This will reduce pain and make hair removal more effective. With your other hand, with a sharp, confident movement, tear the strip off the skin, moving in the direction against hair growth. Treat all body surfaces that need depilation in this way.

Remove wax residue from the skin using any body oil. If you don’t have body oil on hand, olive oil or even sunflower oil will do.

Wipe the skin that has undergone the hair removal procedure with a solution of chlorhexidine or Miramistin. This is necessary to reduce irritation and to ensure that infection does not penetrate into the smallest wounds left on the skin after the procedure.

Lubricate the treated areas with a special balm or cream after hair removal. It’s good if it contains tea tree oil, famous for its healing, soothing and antibacterial properties.

Fold in half and remove the wax strips. They can be reused after 2-3 weeks when the hair grows back.

Try not to wear jeans, trousers, tights or stockings for at least a few hours after hair removal. Give your skin time to recover after the procedure rather than irritate it further with clothing.

Helpful advice

To reduce pain during the procedure, try using special pain-relieving creams for hair removal. The most popular of them is Emla cream. If there is no cream, you can wipe the skin with ice or treat it with mint oil and then wipe dry. If the pain threshold is very low, then half an hour before the procedure you should take a painkiller tablet.

Tip 2: How to use wax strips for depilation

Removing unwanted body hair is a topic familiar to many girls. To carry out this not-so-pleasant cosmetic procedure comfortably at home, there are many different methods - including wax depilation.

You will need

  • - wax strips for depilation
  • - special napkins for removing wax or vegetable oil
  • - moisturizing cream
  • - Body Scrub

Instructions

Wax strips vary in their purpose. There are separate products for depilation of legs and arms, and separately for armpits and face. Some companies also offer strips for the bikini area. Regardless of the application, all wax strips should be used correctly.

How to use wax strips

In the area requiring depilation, hair should be of medium length (minimum 3-4 mm). Wax will not be able to capture very short shoots. Before the procedure, experts recommend preparing the depilation areas: peeling and steaming. These steps will allow you to remove hair efficiently and make the procedure less painful.

Next, dry the skin thoroughly and apply a thin layer of talc/baby powder. Warm up the molded strips in your palms. Separate the depilatory material and stick it to the selected area. Please note: glue should be in the direction of hair growth. Smooth the strip by carefully ironing it with your hand: it should “grab” each hair well.

Pull the skin below the glued strip a little and fix it. Grab the bottom edge of the wax sheet and pull it up very sharply. Remember: the sharper the movement, the less pain you will experience. If there are a lot of hairs left, repeat the entire procedure. Simply remove single ones with tweezers. Wipe off any remaining wax on the skin with the cosmetic wipes included in the kit. If you don't have any or you've run out, use a cloth soaked in vegetable/olive oil.
