  • children under the age of 3 years (due to the high risk of alkaloid poisoning);

Side effects and precautions

Hellebore water can cause allergic reactions, manifested in the form of:

  • tingling;
  • skin itching;
  • mild burning sensation;
  • pinching.

If this happens, then you should take allergy medication. With increasing reactions, a trip to the doctor is necessary.

To prevent the appearance of signs of allergy, a small amount of the drug should be applied to the bend of the elbow before use. If after 15 minutes no changes appear on the skin, then the remedy suits you and you can apply it without fear.

If hellebore water gets into the eyes, they should be rinsed immediately with plenty of water. Accidental penetration of the drug into the nose requires an urgent visit to the doctor.

Repeated use of the drug allows the risk of poisoning, since hellebore water penetrates deep into the skin. The problem can also arise when the drug accidentally enters the stomach. With intoxication observed:

  • general weakness;
  • dry mouth;
  • thirst;
  • diarrhea;
  • nausea;
  • vomit;
  • dizziness;
  • severe headaches;
  • severe burning at the site of application of the medicine;
  • increased heart rate.

In severe cases of poisoning, there may be:

  • increased arousal;
  • convulsions;
  • constriction of the pupils;
  • visual disturbance;
  • asthmatic breathing;
  • loss of consciousness;
  • slow heart rate;
  • drop in blood pressure.

If after using the product you notice at least one of these signs, you should urgently drink sorbents (Enterosgel, Polysorb MS, activated charcoal) and call an ambulance, then you will have a gastric lavage. If treatment is not started on time, then intoxication can lead to death.

Ingestion of even a small amount of hellebore water into the stomach can be fatal.
