Decorating a New Year's plate for a Christmas table - decoupage master class

For example, the atmosphere at the home table. In addition to preparing all sorts of New Year's dishes, like Olivier, as well as decorating the house with Christmas tree decorations, the New Year's atmosphere can also be conveyed with a set of dishes and a service. The correct design of the New Year's table is not only delicious winter dishes that we savor in a friendly company or in a family celebration. For example, decorating a New Year's plate using the decoupage technique is another opportunity to show your imagination, as well as improve the appearance of the house, and raise the atmosphere for the period of the New Year holidays. There are many techniques, but today we will try to try just one.

Preparing a New Year's plate with your own hands

So, this plate can become both part of the service and a visual template, or one of the gift items for your friends. It requires a special approach to creativity, but you also must not forget about the instructions that you have to follow. Small photo instructions will help you understand the essence of the actions and very soon, one of the New Year's plates will be able to decorate your New Year's table. It is better not to go into such a thing without materials, so you have to go to the stationery stores to make a beautiful decoupage craft:

  • Let's prepare a napkin on the theme of the new year
  • Also, the plates that we will decorate
  • You will need manicure scissors
  • Also, we will prepare decoupage glue, or the composition of PVA glue
  • Acrylic paints will be required
  • Acrylic varnish also does not hurt
  • Prepare a sponge or dish sponge
  • You will need a disposable plastic plate
  • Soft type brushes, one of the bristles - for adhesives

Cooking drawings and decorations

First, you need to choose the appropriate napkin to cut out the pattern. For a white background of a napkin, a light background of the product should be used. In the case of this option, you should not try to form the contour accurately, use an approximate design, the fields can be left. But, if the picture is located on a dark background, then you need to cut in accordance with the contours, observing the boundaries so that there are no noticeable bright transitions in the fragment of the picture. Next, we will try on the pattern for the plate in order to design it in the future. It is necessary to compose a composition using different fragments of the picture. Then, we make a separation of the top layer of the napkin, with which we will work. It is worth recalling that there are three layers in the napkin, the top one is necessary for us.

Decor

Then, we work on the reverse decoupage of the plate. All our actions in this case will be carried out from the back of the product. Please note that this option is only suitable for work that is made of glass. You can glue the napkin in different ways. For someone, special spray options are suitable, someone uses the addition of PVA glue on a napkin, and then accelerates the composition along the edges of the product. Alternatively, you can apply a layer of glue with a brush. By the way, the brush must be immediately dipped into the water. After that, we lay the picture and press it, we straighten it with a sponge. Some air bubbles will form, and the napkin itself has a chance to lose its shape. Therefore, it is necessary to eliminate these elements, or even better, to level it with a finger, and before that, soak it in water or glue. After fixing the napkin, you will have to eliminate errors with a needle and pressure. In order to speed up drying, we will use a hairdryer. The glue will become transparent, the napkin will acquire a slender shape. If the result of the work satisfies, we continue our work. Next, you need to carry out finishing work by washing off excess glue to the contour of the drawing. After, put the product until completely dry.

Dyeing

We paint on the reverse side. In this case, a reverse order option is needed. To do this, in order to form, say, a white background and a red edging, we first make the edging, and then the background. Acrylic paint is squeezed onto a plate. If the paint is too thick, you need to dilute it with water. The consistency of the material is in the form of a thick mixture. Next, you need to cut off a piece of sponge, then dip it in paint and then blot the excess with paper. After that, we work according to the surface treatment method. The plate can be held with your hand. After that, we put our craft on a stable object. Create a border for the snow patterns, then cover it with white acrylic. The napkin is also covered with white paint to the limits of the contour. Then, we have a variant of our picture. Acrylic paint should be applied in several layers. It may not lie flat, but we need density, since this is a reverse decoupage. The option of working in 3-4 layers will be the best solution. For fresh paint and its fixation, it is necessary to re-stroke and then dry with a hair dryer. With the help of blue paints we form the sky, then, we run a little over the background of white. The dried paint should not leak, should not be mixed, and it will not have a translucency. The same principle allows you to form a variety of patterns in the form of ornaments, stripes. Next, we paint the back of the product using a dense layer of painting material. We apply varnish and the product is ready!

An interesting hobby "hand-made" has long been in vogue - hand-made things, some people have taken a great interest in sewing clothes, others in the creation of handicrafts from plastic or designer dolls, and some of us have discovered decoupage of plates. This is a fairly fresh hobby, which has gained its popularity due to the availability of tools and the cheapness of the materials at hand. Literally everything is used here - from napkins to eggshells, but the result is striking in originality and beauty, photos of such works inspire more and more people, and the number of loyal followers of the hobby is constantly growing. Today, many sites are being created with photo and video materials, which describe in detail how to do this simple work step by step with your own hands.

One of the “gurus” of the “hand-made” direction is Natasha Fokhtina, the author and host of her own handicraft program on one of the television channels. Today we will consider several ways to make such a plate - our own unique interior decoration, based on the methods and techniques of its video tutorials.

What is plate decoupage?

This is a technique for decorating dishes by gluing a part of a picture with a final varnish coating to it so that it is securely fixed, and literally "decoupage" is translated from French as "cut out". The founders of the trend were German artisans of the late 15th century, who began to decorate ordinary furniture with similar pictures. In the 17th century, Europe was swept by a wave of enthusiasm for Chinese and Japanese motives, in connection with which all segments of the population were already carried away with decoupage with their own hands, therefore, by the 19th century, it acquired a mass character; but this hobby came to Russia only at the beginning of this century, and has gained real popularity only in our days.

Decoupage of plates will be the easiest for beginners; later, in the same style, you can learn how to decorate furniture, bags and more. Themes can be different: New Year's landscape, flowers, still lifes, even fragments of classic paintings. Or, why not - an old photo of your beloved grandmother. The main thing will be that you make this miracle with your own hands.

What do you need

  • plate;
  • napkins - these can be special napkins for decoupage, or the most common options with any pattern;
  • picture or photo of your choice;
  • glue - acrylic or PVA;
  • scissors;
  • alcohol;
  • craquelure;
  • eggshell;
  • brushes;
  • primer;
  • acrylic paints of any two colors;
  • oil gold or other paint.

Not the entire list is needed to work. Everyone will need tools, but from napkins, photographs, craquelure or eggshells, you can choose one thing.

Decoupage plates are divided into types:

  1. With napkins. If special napkins designed specifically for decoupage are used, then they are stratified, separating the upper part, if ordinary analogs are used, they are not separated into layers, but glued as is. The technique of execution can be found in the photo and video lessons of Fokhtina at the end of the article.
  2. With craquelure. The plate is painted with paint of a special composition, which, when dry, cracks textured.
  3. Eggshell. Pieces of eggshell are glued to the drawing, photograph or the place around them as a frame.
  4. Photo registration. The style and technique is the same as when using napkins, just a printed photograph is taken as an image.

In addition to this method, decoupage of plates is divided into:

  • direct - the image or photo is superimposed on the front of the dishes;
  • reverse decoupage of the plate - the pattern is applied to the reverse side. Typically used on transparent saucers.

One of the most popular motives is romantic, most often combined with aging.

What is the best plate to choose:

Among the abundance of all kinds of plates, you can choose any one to your taste, but not all dishes are suitable for decoupage. Many saucers are produced corrugated or pimpled in texture, and some of them even have their own pattern, similar in style to the one we want to make ourselves. In addition, all plates differ in the material of manufacture - it can be ceramics, and glass, and porcelain, and so on. For work we need the simplest white porcelain plate, smooth and without any images.

Direct decoupage technique with drawing:

A drawing is cut out of a napkin with scissors. If a photograph is used, then by analogy the required part of it is taken. It can be any topic, on the eve of the New Year New Year's plots were especially popular, but this holiday is still quite a long time. It is also a great gift for March 8, and, of course, for the birthdays of loved ones.

  1. The plate itself needs to be degreased; for this, a cotton pad is moistened with alcohol and all surfaces are wiped - front and back.
  2. After degreasing, the dishes are thoroughly wiped dry, otherwise, in the process of applying the image, folds or bubbles may appear on it.
  3. The drawing, photo or cut out fragments are neatly placed on the front of the plate.
  1. Cover the correctly placed parts with glue, smoothing all the fragments with a brush.
  2. After the glue dries, the entire surface of the plate with the image is varnished.
  3. We are waiting for the varnish to dry - and the plate is ready.

This method is used to create decorative plates. If you plan not only to admire them, but also serve fruits and goodies for tea in them, then it is better to use reverse decoupage.

DIY reverse decoupage technique:

The manipulations of pattern cutting and degreasing are identical to the direct method.

The difference is that the drawing is attached to the back of the dish, and the plate itself must be transparent, otherwise the work will not be visible and completely lose its meaning.

  1. There is also a difference in the technique of applying glue. Not the whole drawing is smeared with it, but only the edges, moreover, it is better not to go to the front surface of the plate, but small flaws are allowed, the main thing is not to smear the glue too much. On the photo and video materials of our site, you can clearly see the style and technique of work.
  2. After the glue is completely dry, all the "bloopers" can be carefully cleaned up.
  3. If an opaque background around the picture is planned, then this surface is painted with acrylic paints and allowed to dry.

Ah, this word is "craquelure"

Here, the performance technique will be a little more complicated.

  1. The plate is degreased according to the standard.
  2. A primer is applied to the dishes with a sponge and allowed to dry.
  3. The surface is painted with brown paint, which should also dry well.
  4. PVA glue is applied on top of the paint, they wait for a while, but here the glue should not be completely dry, this is important.
  5. White acrylic paint is applied on top. It should dry and come loose.
  6. Take a regular office file and put the cut napkin face down on it, fixing it with water.
  7. The file with the image is placed on a plate, then the film is abruptly pulled out so that the napkin lies flat on the surface.
  8. Irregularities are removed with a brush.
  9. We paint the edges with brown paint for an aged effect.
  10. Around the drawing itself, in a different shade of brown, draw an analogue of shadows with your finger.
  11. We cover with varnish in several layers until the surface is smooth to the touch.

Guys, today you and I have very interesting work to do. We will get to know you new technology, which is called decoupage. Decoupage this is a decorating technique (decoration) various items. This technique can be used to decorate dishes, furniture and other items.

Tell me, what holiday are we waiting for as a swami?

Children: New Year!

Gray-haired grandfather in a long fur coat

With a long, long beard.

To our Christmas tree in the New Year

He will come with gifts.

Guess who it is?

Children: Santa Claus

Well done, of course it's Santa Claus. Every year he comes to the New Year, brings gifts and joy to children and adults. But not only Santa Claus gives gifts on the New Year, but people give gifts to each other. So today we will make a gift with our own hands, and you will choose who to give it to.

We will create new Year's plate using Decoupage technique.

So let's start: first, I will distribute paper napkins to you (if the napkins are multi-layered, then you need to stratify them so that one thin layer remains, with new Year's drawings... You need to take a napkin on which Santa Claus is depicted and carefully cut it off with your hands in a circle, so that only Santa Claus remains, that is, cut off everything around Santa Claus. Next, you need to put the resulting image in the center of your cardboard plates.

After that we take a brush, glue. Remove the picture of Santa Claus, smear the middle plates glue and place on plate our picture... Now we begin to coat with Santa Claus glue from the outside. You need to take a lot of glue, and smear it gently from the middle to the edges, very gently, so as not to tear the grandfather. As a result, our picture will turn out without folds and it will become, as it were, one whole with platter... As if she was drawn on it.

The second stage of our work is to decorate the remaining free space on our platter... Now we need scissors and the rest of the napkins. Choose any item you like. We have Christmas trees, Christmas decorations and colorful birds. Cut whatever you want and we will decorate.

After all the decorations are ready. We begin to glue them in the same way as we glued Santa Claus. First we coat platter, then we apply a drawing, and very carefully, the details are small, we begin to coat with glue on top.

After all the decorations are glued, look again if there are any folds, and you're done! Well done, you did a wonderful job with this job. Now a gift for your mothers, fathers, grandmothers or other relatives is ready! After all, you know that the most expensive gift is a handmade gift!

HERE AND OUR PLATES! THANKS FOR ATTENTION!

Kind time of the day to everyone who looked to me at the light. Today I present to your attention a master class on making decorative.

I suggest you try to create an interesting travel decoupage. Nice color, attention to small details, original piece.

1. Break the eggs, pour boiling water over the shell, remove the inner film from the shell. 2. We take paper napkins, we cut off flowers. 3. We cover.

Good day to everyone who came to visit me. The most long-awaited New Year holiday is approaching and I am looking forward to the New Year.

On the eve of the new year, many of us are looking for a way to thank and wish our parents a Happy New Year. The best way, of course.

With the help of a beautiful New Year's napkin, you can turn an ordinary glass plate into an original holiday gift.

For a New Year's plate you will need:
1.Napkin with a New Year theme
2.Small sharp scissors (manicure)
3.Glass plate
4.Glue for decoupage (or PVA glue)
5.Acrylic paints
6.Acrylic varnish or special finishing varnish for decoupage.
7.Soft sponge (for dishes)
8.Plastic disposable plate
9. Brushes: good and soft for acrylic (natural or synthetic); cheapest bristle (for glue)

Choose a suitable napkin and cut out the drawing. If the background of the napkin is white, and the background of the future product is supposed to be light, then you can not try too much and only approximately follow the contour, leaving the margins. But if the picture was on a dark background, then you need to cut it out clearly observing the boundaries of the intended fragment of the picture.

Trying on a drawing for our plate, composing a composition from different fragments.

Carefully separate the top layer of the napkin - we just need it.

We do reverse decoupage of the plate, i.e. everything we do is done only from the reverse side! Such a plate can then be put on the table and used for its intended purpose.
The methods of gluing the napkin are different for everyone: someone uses exclusively special sprays, someone drops a blot into the middle of the napkin and drives it to the edges. Or you can simply apply a layer of glue with a brush (brush then immediately into the water), and apply a picture to it (face down), gently pressing and spreading it with a sponge.

Air bubbles will begin to form between the surface of the plate and the wet napkin, and the napkin itself will "shrink" - this must be eliminated. It is best to level the napkin by gently running your finger over it, pre-wetting it with water or dipping it in glue. If the napkin is already fixed, then it is better to eliminate the bubbles like this - pierce with a needle and press.
To speed up the process, you can use a hairdryer. Gradually, the glue becomes almost transparent, and the napkin straightens a little.

If the result suits us, then we can continue working.
We wash off excess glue with water up to the outline of the drawing (where possible). We leave the plate to dry.

We paint the back side. The principle of "looking through the looking glass" works here, i.e. we carry out all actions in the reverse order! And if we need a white background and a red edging, then first the edging, then the background.
Squeeze some acrylic paint onto a plastic plate. If it is very thick, dilute it a little with water - it should be the consistency of thick porridge. Cut off a small piece of sponge, dip it in paint, blot the excess on a piece of paper and then work with the "chpok" method. You can hold the plate with your hand.

or by placing it on a stable small object, such as a perfume box.

We outline the boundaries of the snow and cover it with white acrylic. The entire seamy side of the napkin within the contours must also be covered with white paint! This is the law !!! In this case, it does not matter at all how flat the paint is and whether the brush marks are visible.

The picture appears.

Acrylic paint has good covering properties, but one coat of paint is not enough. The paint on the back of the plate may be uneven, but must be thick. It will take 3-4 layers. Fresh paint has not yet fixed, it is easy to damage it by repeatedly brushing it over it, be sure to dry it between layers (with a hairdryer).

Now we depict the sky with blue paints, apply paint, running over a white background.

If the paint is dry, then it will not flow, mix, and will not shine through. By the same principle, you can make any drawings - ornaments, stripes, etc.

Now paint over the entire back of the plate with a thick layer of paint.

It remains only to apply varnish - and the plate is ready!

New Year's decoupage is becoming more and more popular. Many different ideas are found in many master classes that require certain investments.

On New Year's Eve, not everyone wants to spend money, but many people want to make a beautiful New Year's decoupage with their own hands.

How to make decoupage while saving money?

There is an answer to this question, and it is presented in my master classes.

I believe that using a minimum of materials, you can create extraordinary beauty, no worse than with expensive materials.

Someone may not like my innovation, but it is necessary to understand that in times of crisis and economic recession, people should not stop doing art.

New Year's decoupage plates

Of course, we need wax for this. Where to get wax ?! Of course, from small cheap candles, which can be purchased for a very low cost in the amount of 100 pieces per pack.

Believe me, this is very profitable, because buying one large candle costs much more.

Yes, and at home there will certainly be candles that are a pity to throw away and put on the table ashamed. That's exactly what we need.

Three old candles on a grater and melt in a water bath.

We take a magazine sheet and make a cone out of it. We cover the entire cone with tape, especially the top so that the wax does not flow out.

Pour the wax into the cone, first placing the felt inside or tying it to a stick. If you don't have a felt, you can soak several layers of thread in kerosene.

We put in the refrigerator and leave to freeze. It will take about 2 hours to solidify, but I left the candle on overnight. I got such a Christmas tree-candle.

If the candle does not come out completely flat, you can tweak it with a knife (remove excess wax elements).

This candle is ideal as a gift, table decoration and interior decoration.

New Year's decoupage of a bottle of champagne

An easy and interesting idea that will give you a lot of pleasant emotions and will be a great gift for the New Year.

To decoupage a bottle, we need:

  • sponge for washing dishes;
  • pVA glue;
  • scissors;
  • napkins;
  • gouache;
  • brushes.

For my master class, I took a bottle of Soviet champagne 1.5 liters. I want to make it to celebrate the New Year with my family.

You can take any bottle with or without content to your friend.

Preparing a bottle for New Year's decoupage

First you need to remove the labels. This is not easy to do, since it is extremely dangerous to dip the champagne in hot water (the bottle may burst in your hands).

To easily wipe off the label, I used a metal washcloth. She does not scratch the bottle and removes well.
