Socks for the winter which are better. Which socks are best to wear in the fall and which ones in the winter? Smartwool - continuous heating

Let's be honest: the vast majority of us have absolutely no idea what socks to wear. Also, no one will deny that dropsy are perhaps the biggest nuisance for the legs on a hike. They form due to the constant rubbing of the skin against the surface of the toe and boot when the foot is not dry.

Modern technological socks not only keep feet dry, but also support the foot, thereby improving its well-being. But here the problem of choice arises: tourist equipment stores offer dozens and hundreds of different models of sports socks, and there really is plenty to choose from.

Some socks are made entirely of synthetics, others are completely made of natural raw materials; combinations of natural materials and synthetics are also far from uncommon. Some socks are downright thick, others are extremely light and thin.

Some models of socks have thickening in certain areas, while others have tighter areas in the midfoot that help support the arch of the foot. You may not even have guessed that there are so many nuances. And there are actually many more of them. Interesting? Want to choose thermal socks right? Read on for some helpful tips ...

In an hour of intense jogging, your foot is capable of producing enough sweat to fill a 200 gram glass. Fancy a whole glass of smelly liquid? Now imagine that you put your clean sock in a glass, take it out and put it on your leg. Disgusting, right?

A cotton sock, together with skin secretions, will “absorb” all the unpleasant odor and easily provide your foot with “wet impressions” for a long time. The leg will not feel comfortable, and with a high probability, after a while, several guests will come to you in the form of painful dropsies or serious chafing.

It is important that the sock is able to wick moisture away from the skin. it the main function of the thermosos! A cotton sock can't do that!

One of the additional features that can be found in the descriptions of thermosocks are the so-called areas of increased stress. These are the areas of contact of the leg with the toe and shoes, which are the most stressed during movement - the heel and toe. Consider this feature. Especially if you carry a heavy backpack, are prone to stride with an abrupt position, or your feet are prone to chafing. At the same time, remember that reinforced socks in high-stress areas are thick, and your shoes must have sufficient stock in order to not feel constrained. These socks help high-quality shoes absorb the stress on your feet when carrying a heavy backpack or running.

Per nice socks you have to pay a hefty price tag compared to the "bazaar" socks, but it's worth it. Your legs will be grateful to you for the absence of rubbing and calluses.

Of course, trekking socks, or socks for any other sport should be used where they justify themselves as a fairly expensive purchase. At the same time, high-quality functional socks (for example, a Czech company) will “live” much longer than ordinary “market” socks and will precisely “organize” a much more comfortable microclimate for your foot even in urban conditions with low physical exertion.

It is difficult to choose one pair from the entire assortment of thermal socks available in the store. Here are 5 specific tips to make your choice easier:

1. Don't buy 100% cotton socks. Look for, or a combination of polymers with natural fibers. Synthetics work better and more efficiently. It removes moisture and prevents chafing.

In order not to catch a cold and feel comfortable, first of all, as you know, you need to keep your feet warm. And with this task, warm socks do the best, without which you cannot do in winter.

How to choose warm socks?

Entering any sock store, you will be offered a dozen different pairs, differing in price and appearance. Of course, you immediately want to give preference to the beautiful and stylish, but take your time. Let's first figure out which socks are the warmest for the winter.

First of all, pay attention to the composition - the composition of warm women's socks should consist of at least 40% natural material. The most popular options are cotton and wool.

The cotton thread, although not warm, enhances heat exchange, prevents the feet from sweating and, thereby, freezing. Combined with artificial insulation, these socks will be an excellent helper on cold days.

Socks with wool are more common in winter, as the unique properties of this material keep your feet warm, improve circulation and wick moisture away. In addition, they have increased wear resistance.

The best combination for warm socks for the winter is wool and cotton. By choosing this option, you will definitely not regret it.

Plus, you'll likely find options on store shelves that contain bamboo, cashmere, merino wool, and more. These natural materials will certainly keep you warm, especially if the percentage is high enough.

Models with merino wool can rightfully be called very warm socks for the winter. As a rule, it is added to the so-called thermal socks, which are distinguished by the best warming and heat-saving properties and are perfect even for extreme cold weather.

Simple crochet socks (the heel is formed at the end of knitting) Video.

Warm socks accompany us almost all year round. They are especially relevant from autumn to spring. And in winter it is simply an irreplaceable element of the wardrobe of both men and women.

Not everyone knows how to choose the right socks to keep their feet warm, cozy and comfortable.

Which material is better?

The main selection criterion is the correct composition of the threads. Combination yarns are better than purely natural yarns.

Wool is an expensive material that rolls off quickly. Yes, and the effect of washing responds unfavorably to them, they are often wiped clean.

For people prone to allergies, cotton socks are the best option. True, the material is very dense, putting on such products is obtained "with a creak."

Purely synthetic socks are bad for the foot for many reasons. Although they fit snugly on the leg, they are fragile. They do not allow moisture and air to pass through, the leg will be steamed in such socks.

The best option is a combination of natural materials with synthetics (70-80% x 30-20%). They keep their shape and fit nicely.

How to choose socks?

The quality of the socks depends on the equipment. The higher the class of knitting machines and the thinner the needles, the smaller the loops in the products will be. This favors good quality, tight fit around the leg, they wear off well, and the wear resistance becomes higher.

High quality warm socks are made of double twist yarns. This thread turns out to be thinner. To understand that such a thread is used, it is enough to look closely at the texture of the sock, the loops in it will go obliquely.

The elastic of warm socks should be wide, dense, but not particularly tight, so as not to pinch the leg, disrupting blood circulation.

The heel should be formed. It often happens that warm socks have a heel made of denser threads, which will extend the life of the product.

The seams should be flat and soft to the touch. The front seam is positioned clearly over the toes.

For elasticity, the threads include 1-2% elastane, but not more.

In order for the products to serve for a long time, they should be washed at a temperature not exceeding 40 degrees and preferably by hand. For a machine wash, select a delicate program so that the intensive rotation of the drum does not disturb the thread structure.

How to match with clothes?

If you adhere to the rules of good form, then warm men's socks should be matched to the color of the trousers. This visually lengthens the legs.

But if the spark of a rebel is inherent, it is human nature to break the rules. Socks can be matched to a sweater or tie, or even just to suit the mood.

Still, the extremes should be avoided. Do not wear striped or funky socks to a business meeting.

The height should be such that the naked leg is not visible in the sitting position.

Everyone remembers the parting words of grandmothers from childhood that the legs should be warm. Today it is difficult to imagine a men's or women's wardrobe without warm socks.

With the onset of winter cold, warm socks become an irreplaceable thing. During this period, we wear them not only on the street, but also at home. That is why their choice should be approached with special responsibility.

What are the warmest socks made of?

Of course, the warmest socks are made from wool. But wool is also different. The most widespread are the following models:

  1. Women's winter socks with cashmere. Cashmere retains heat well without irritating the skin and makes socks soft and light. Most often, such models are made with the addition of cotton, which gives the product strength and breathability.
  2. Warm lambswool wool socks. Many craftswomen claim that knitted socks made from sheep wool are the warmest and most comfortable to wear (especially when it comes to merino wool or angora).
  3. Knitted warm camel wool. There are also supporters of the fact that the warmest socks are obtained from camel hair. In addition, it was found that they improve blood circulation and are an excellent prevention of arthritis, rheumatic pains and osteochondrosis. The listed options are most popular in the manufacture of thick winter socks, however, there are many other varieties of wool. For example, warm knitted women's socks made of alpaca, yak, rabbit wool, or even a combination of several types of wool.

What are the warmest socks?

It is impossible to give an unequivocal answer to this question. Someone claims that the warmest socks are obtained from sheep's wool, someone prefers dog hair. However, it's not just what wool the socks are made of, but also how they are knitted.

Also, a lot depends on what you buy warm socks for. For example, for winter sports in the fresh air or for hiking, there are special thermal socks that will protect you not only from the cold, but also from moisture. Going to sports stores for such socks, pay attention to the label, which should indicate the minimum temperature at which these socks are able to keep warm.

But warm socks for home, without a doubt, are best knitted by grandmothers.

Finally, it should be noted that today there are heated socks that run on ordinary batteries. This model, which appeared on the market quite recently, is gaining more and more popularity every year.

We are very often asked to help you choose the best option for children's thermal socks. Therefore, we will try to tell and show all the Norwegian winter and demi-season socks as much as possible to help you make the right choice.

Children's socks Norveg (Norway) contain the highest quality merino wool (the first shear of sheep, the longest and most delicate wool) or Cashmere (the warmest wool known to mankind).

It is important to remember when choosing winter thermal socks!
Socks should be worn on a bare leg, worn with leggings. In principle, with a strong desire, you can put on woolen or thermal tights (correct and not containing cotton). It is important to remember that in winter shoes there must be a margin of at least 0.5 cm, otherwise your feet will start to freeze even in three pairs of the warmest socks! You cannot wear shoes with a very large margin in winter, it is optimal to have a margin of 0.5-1 cm. With a margin of 1.5 cm, the air layer between the toe and the shoes is too large and the heat loss will be very large, even in the warmest socks! It is also important to remember that wool is not a heating pad and does not warm, but keeps warm. If the child does not move (for example, sitting in a wheelchair), then the blood rushes less to the limbs and they become cooler. Cool feet is normal and does not mean that the feet are cold! It is important that the feet remain dry and warm or cool. Ice, wet and cold or hot feet - means that socks or shoes are not dressed for the season.

Review of children's socks Norway
In the photo there are socks in the size 23-26.

Lined by warmth from left to right: Thermo +, Soft, ClimateControl, Multifunctional, With cashmere

and now about each sock in detail and a photo on the model :)

Thermo + socks

Terry knee-highs, 90% merino wool. Warmest and highest sock. Can be worn under rubber boots, as well as in extreme cold. To wear correctly with a cloth on top)) If the shoes are butt, they can rub off, because they have a very large percentage of wool and a small percentage of synthetics. It is better to wash by turning it inside out (with a cloth inside). If you wash it incorrectly, then the terry will cough up a lot and the sock will lose its appearance. If washed correctly, the sock retains its original appearance for a long time.

Usually bought as a warm sock for winter or as a sock for rubber boots.

Good fit on the foot, do not slip even when the child is crawling on the floor. If the baby is under one year old, it is better to take the size 23-26 instead of 19-22.

Socks Soft

They contain 87% wool. The foot of the sock is additionally insulated with terry cloth. When worn, the foot may cough a little (in the first month, and then the fine hairs go away and the sock looks good). The sock is quite wear-resistant and, with proper care, retains a good look for a long time. Take for children with not very high physical activity. Alternatively, you can buy NorwaySoft tights to keep your legs completely warm.

Socks Climate Control

High thermal sock, which contains 60% merino wool and 40% polycolon. The toe is rather plump, the elastic at the top is soft. There is an additional elastic band on the foot so that the sock does not slip during strong physical exertion, as well as a special knit on the arch of the foot to wick away sweat better. When worn and washed, the sock begins to frizz and pellets appear, but this does not affect its properties. Very resistant to wear, the manufacturer claims 4-5 years, so more than one child can be like in one pair of socks :)

An excellent option for a warm sock for active children, in them you can easily get to the playground in a sled, run and return home in a sled. If the child is not yet very active, choose between Soft and Thermo +.

Multifunctional socks

Perhaps the most versatile version of socks. You can wear it already at a temperature of +15 degrees and until severe frosts, depending on the warmth of the shoes and the activity of the child. The upper is made of 100% wool, and in the foot there is a mixture of 65% wool and the right synthetics, including polycolon, which helps to wick moisture well.

Compared to other socks, they are the thinnest, but this is one of my daughter's favorite socks :)

When worn, the foot coughs a little and pellets appear, the wool top, with proper care, retains its original appearance for a long time. The socks are very resistant to wear and tear, the manufacturer also claims a period of 4-5 years.

Cashmere socks are a novelty on the Ukrainian market.
The sock has a high cotton composition, so it is more suitable for children with low physical activity or for demi-season socks.
If your child, in principle, does not feel bad in cotton socks, but still wants a thin warmer sock, then cashmere socks are an excellent option. Cashmere makes the sock softer and warmer than regular cotton socks. At the same time, the sock itself remains thin, which is also not unimportant with a small stock in the shoe.
And another good plus - the beautiful colors of the sock look great on the leg and always cheer up :)

Purchase and care
For autumn-winter-spring, it is optimal to have 2 pairs of socks - thinner and warmer. Socks should be washed in water 30 degrees with a wool detergent, it is better to wash it by hand. Do not twist, but gently squeeze in the palms. To dry faster, you can blot it several times with a towel. Dry away from heating appliances by spreading out on a terry towel.
